Comparison of APH discount and AAA discount?

I have booked at the HR, three rooms with APH discount. I was told I would need 1 AP for each room even though they are for my immediate family. Now I see the AAA rate is available at the RP for my dates (I really do prefer the RP) and the total cost for the rooms would be the same. The difference is with the AP rate I would need three AP's which amounts to an extra $80 x 3 ($240), but the with the AAA rate, I would only need one AAA membership ($55) for all rooms, that would be over $200 savings. Now for my question, I don't have either AAA or AP yet and I was wondering are the discounts throughout the parks and restaurants the same with AAA as AP or would I be better off with the AP for the discounts on food on merchandise. I hope this is not too confusing. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

I don't think there are AAA discounts on food or merchandise. We save a lot with the AP's inside the park.

Before I got my AP, I was able to use my AAA card for discounts on food & merchandise (10% maybe?), but that was also a few years ago.

Anyone get AAA discounts recently??? :confused3

When did they discontinue the AAA discounts on food and merchandise? I know we used ours for lots of discounts last year. That's going to be disappointing if they are no longer offering those discounts. First no Entertainment rates and now this!

AAA discounts are still in effect. It's 10% at pretty much any restaurant and possibly some stores as well.

I never said they were discontinued - I just hadn't used it for a few years.

Thanks for clarifying this RyGuy!!! :teeth:

Just to confirm the AAA rates are still in effect. I just used it recently and at 10% off, it more than pays for itself.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the AAA rate is an APPROVED rate for the Loew's First membership program, while the AP rate is not... This just means if you are trying to become a Loew's First Gold or Platinum member... the AAA rate would credit the nights to your account, while the AP reserved room would not count.

Did I say that right?? :goodvibes

I booked 2 rooms for the Hard Rock for the end of this month with the AAA card. I was told that I needed one for each room. Please verify before you book.

I decided to switch to the Royal Pacific from the HardRock. Rates were the same HR using AP and RP using AAA (well, rates were not the same but the total came out the same) I figured I would only need one AAA versus three AP's saving almost $200. I was told two different stories when calling Loews First Reservations. First person told me I needed 1 AAA card for each room booked. Second person told me they can book up to 9 rooms with same AAA?? I hope that's true because I booked online and am using one AAA card.

Croissant Moon would not honour the AAA discount but did honour the annual pass.
