IMO MK is huge with alot of walking and ECV's are really not an option for her as her coordination is pretty bad and she would be running into people all day...lol. Anyway, how does Universal compare? Are there more 'shows' at Universal/IOA than MK? My Mom is anti-ride (even a simple Merry Go Round doesn't appeal to her) -- but she wants to enjoy and spend time with her granddaughter by participating and having fun with her, but not sure if this is the right path.

I dont' like to compare Universal to Disney but I will note a few points that could help :)

Show wise, there are tons of shows on the Universal side and not as many on the IOA side. Most the rides are shows over at Universal, many of them are 3D type shows too that she could enjoy.

My dad used an ECV last June and did not have to much of a problem over at UO, IOA was a bit more crowded but UO seemed more open and it was a little easier for him to get around. He had a great time and he is more of a show person since his back does not allow him to do any rides.

There is still alot of walking IMO so you might want to go ahead and do the ECV, heck if my dad can not run over anyone than you should be good :) It was his first time using one and honestly he was miserable the first night we were there until I rented that. After that night he made the decision to stay all week with us and to the parks, which he was not going to do at first. It was the best thing we did for him and us this past trip.

I agree you can't really compare MK to IOA cause they are totally different

if your mom is in a w/c and not doing the rides, she can buy her park ticket at guest services.

explain she is there for being with the family and not for the rides.
i believe it is a 10% discount for the park ticket.

you would need to buy the park ticket at guest services for the discount.

guest services are located outside the park and inside the park.

thank you all for the input. i priced out a few different variations and sent an email off to my Mom for her opinion. I rather buy her a regular park ticket as once she gets there, I don't want to limit her on anything. If she's up for it, she has that option. *fingers crossed* Only other option for the 3 of us is a cruise, and I don't like boats at all so she may have to wind up either passing entirely or wait until DD is older and is interested in more of the things my Mom is.
