We've stayed at almost all of the Disney resorts but never at Universal. Can someone give me an idea of what "level" the Universal resorts compare to Disney? (IE. value, moderate, etc.) I really don't want to offend any Universal fans, I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect when comparing prices. The lowest rate I can find right now is $210 for RPH. Again, no offense intended, I'm concerned that this is a high rate for their "lower" end resort. TIA

no offense taken, you've never been there. last time I checked, RP and HR were AAA 4 diamond resorts, and Portofino was a 5 diamond. all 3 make every disney property (Maybe the exception of the Grand FLO), look and feel like a shack. the TM's are far better. we love the WL and AKL, but UO's just got it on the ball. :D

Universal resorts compare to the Disney Deluxe resorts. They are all Loews hotels and are wonderful.

Universal's lower end is comp to Disney's AKL & WL .... it is nothing like the Disney lower end ... AllStars

RP and Hard Rock are AAA 4 Diamond resorts. Portofino is rated as a 5 Diamond. they will blow you away.

We liked the RPR at Universal a lot better than the Polynesian at Disney. It was just beautiful and we are fans of the Poly. They are truly deluxe resorts and we had an entertainment rate then which made the room at RPR half price.

The biggest discounts are for annual passholders and sometimes Entertainment rate. I would suggest that you calls the loews number and ask what discounts are available. Don't tell them what you've got. After you find out the discounts then you can go about getting what you need (AAA, entertainment, etc.)

For example, I am getting the annual passholders rate of $139 for Hard Rock Hotel for a pool view room at the end of January.
