It is well known that Paris's Space Mountain is quite different from the others. BETTER OR WORSE?????? Comments?

I haven't been on both but give me a few weeks and I'll let you know :goodvibes ! We are going to Disneyland Paris for the first time and I'm excited because I've read time and again that certain rides like Pirates and Space Mountain are better there. While I've ridden Space Mountain in Disneyland Anaheim hundreds of times the ride in Florida was terrible in comparison. I sat up front and could see where I was going, and in Anaheim it was a lovely pitch black except for all the starts and shooting comets and such. So cool. Also, in Florida it was horribly jerky but I've read that the Paris one is too. Also that the Paris versions music stopped working and they never fixed it! Wierd. I've also read that in the Paris Pirates, you can see the ceiling, which also sounds pretty awful :sad2: . Hopefully that's not the case.

Paris is definately better. Has loops and a launch like hulk at IOA. However space in disneyland CA is the best of all three. In my opinion they should make space in FL like the one in CA.

For pure excitement, DisneyLand Paris is much better. It has a blast off start, and goes upside down several times. Only bad thing was my head kept banging into the headrest. It reminds me of rock n rollercoaster.

:bounce: The Paris park in general is so much better (especially buzz which was a longer ride with better shooting gun thingies attached to a cord so you could move it whereever you wanted and space in my opinion) with no lines (we went in July to Paris) and I'd have to say the Paris space is absolutly amazing, but I've never been on the new space in DLC to be able to compare to that...In Paris you have no clue what's going to happen untill it does...it's pitch black...I had to allow times between rides because it did whip my head a little to much for me to handle...still loved it thought :bounce:

The ride in Paris is much more detailed. The launch at the beginning is great, and has a dry ice effect that's really cool. The problem is that it's extremely rough. I kept hitting my head against the restraints. Because of this we only rode it once. If it was smoother it would be the clear winner. The ride in Florida is smooth in the front row but if you get stuck in row 6 it's also really bumpy.

Another vote for the DLP. Can't really add anything to what other's have said. As others here said it is a little rougher, better themed and a better ride with the blastoff. However, DLC "space" is tops. pirate:

We just remember getting slammed around a lot more at the Paris one. Our heads got hit on the headrest too. We thought it was rougher than Rock n Roller coaster. It also tangled up my hair pretty bad after 2 -3 rides (I must have been a glutton for punishment!)

WDW - tamest
DL - much more intense
DLP - the "monster"

Interesting ...

So .. do the SM's in Anaheim and Paris actually go faster (like RnRC fast)??

I know the one in Orlando is actually pretty slow (20mph'ish) ... but since its dark and its old ride technology it feels a bit rougher than this.

I love the Orlando SM simply because its got sentimental value from the old days . .curious what the other ones are like.

Just watched the Cali version of YouTube ... disappointed that they opted for Red HOt Chili Peppers .. ruins the ride - totally CHEESEY. Why not something spacey and cool? Geez .. another RnRC experience ...why? :confused3

I'm pretty sure the Chili Peppers at DL was only for a set time frame and their music is gone now.

It was the "spacey" music (I think a re-worked music track) when we went last month.

Good to hear Rhonna about the music change .. and .. I have no problem with RnRC, but we certainly dont need another clone of this to replace a true DIsney classic ride.

Another vote for SM at DLP. Fun ride, even though a little rough. The take off and the loops are good.

Put me down for DLP. I rode it several times in December. The launch into the building and the giant Earth are awesome in the beginning. I dont really remember the ride being bumpy to where my head hit the rest, but that seems to be a common theme to the above posts. I cant wait to go back, and to ride SM at DL in December!!!

For pure excitement, DisneyLand Paris is much better. It has a blast off start, and goes upside down several times. Only bad thing was my head kept banging into the headrest. It reminds me of rock n rollercoaster.

I was just there earlier this week and that ride in Paris is PAINFUL. My head also kept banging into the "headrest" which seems to be metal on both sides of the head. It actually HURT. I won't ever go on this ride in Paris again. Rock and roll rollercoaster is much the same but the headrest is padded much better.

I haven't been on the one in Paris...so I vote Florida!

I've been on both, and think the Parisian version "works better".

I like the Paris Discoveryland theme much more than Florida's Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland and (WDW's Space) was really neat when space travel was a big deal. But, now that the space shuttle launches feel like an everyday occurance, Florida's theme is much less "tomorrow" as "the tomorrow that existed in the 60s when we planned this place." The Parisian park's Jules Verne retro-tomorrowland just works better now that tomorrow is here. (And, as we've seen in Anaheim, trying to overlay the retro-tomorrow look on top of 60s tomorrow just doesn't work.)

That thematic advantage carries over into the Parisian Space Mountain, at least for me. Plus, I happen to enjoy the more aggressive coasters, which gives Paris a further edge.

Another vote for DLP - it's a pretty amazing ride!

Disneyland Paris' version is my favorite ever! Though I do love Disneyland's, too.. especially with the Dick Dale soundtrack. Sweet. :thumbsup2
