Hi! We are planning our first trip to Universal in Aug and I am wondering about rides! I am a bit of a ride chicken and do better knowing what to expect!:rotfl: My favorite WDW rides are Splash Mtn, Test Track and Dinosaur! I love speed and drops, but don't really like coasters. I don't mind Big Thunder, but did not like Space Mnt. I have not tried Everest, Rokin Roller coaster, or Mission Space (though we did do the milder version) d/t being chicken! :scared1:Also, some simulator rides make me feel dizzy! :confused3 I would love some input on which rides to try or not try at Universal!:confused3 Thanks for any help!

It's a shame you don't like coasters and get dizzy on simulators.

If you go to the Universalorlando site you can see the rides and they have videos of them.

Try Youtube also to see if you'd be interested on certain rides.

Well then I would suggest you not go to Islands of Adventure (IOA) as this is more of an amusement park for thrill riders. If you don't mind waiting for others to ride then its okay to go to IOA. The other park Universal Studios the only ride I can thin of which might ( I said might) give you a problem is the Mummy ride as its inside. But I would fashion it to be more like Thunder Mountain as far as generality. Universal Studios is more of a shows park in which you see more shows than actual thrill rides. You could do the jaws ride as that is similar to the Jungle Cruise but the fire is intense. You could do the Disaster Ride as that is like a WDW tram ride. You are actually in a tram. Universal Studios doesn't have much in the way of thrill rides so if you stay to Universal and not IOA you would have a great time. But if you like the water rides go over to IOA to ride the water rides. You are guaranteed to get wet.

You sound like me. Please send me a pm when you get back and let me know how it went. I will be going sometime after you do.

You said that some simulators make you dizzy. How did you handle Star Tours? The Simpsons and Jimmy Neutron rides are pretty bumpy simulator rides. Also, you could call Spiderman in IOA a moving simulator but I doubt that it would make most people dizzy.

Also, if you go to IOA, there are some water rides you might enjoy. There are two drop rides, Jurassic Park River Adventure and Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls. There is also the Bilge-Rat Barges which is a mild river rapids ride but you will get drenched! Cat in the Hat is also mild but it does spin pretty fast.

I`m also a coaster chicken, but I love IoA. If you like Splash Mountain, you can probably do Ripsaw Falls and Jurassic Park River Adventure. My favourite is Popeye & Bluto`s barges (like Kali River Rapids, but you get much more wet). If you like Twilight Zone, you could do Dr. Doom`s Fearfall but it won`t compare well - though I can`t say for sure, drops are what I hate most and have never gotten on either! I`ve done Flight of the Hippogriff (when it was a unicorn) and it isn`t any more intense than Thunder Mtn. There isn`t much spinning in Spider-man, I`m pretty sure you wouldn`t get dizzy.

So that only leaves the 3 coasters (Chinese Fireball, Hungarian Horntail and Hulk), and HP & Forbidden Journey.

In IOA, there's also the Sinbad stunt show and Poseidon's Fury, a walk-through show of sorts. Reviews are mixed for both of these but I think that Sinbad is a good place to rest a bit and the water vortex is worth seeing in Poseidon's Fury - if it's working! Plus you'll see what is probably the prettiest theming in Universal, the little bit of the Lost Continent that still exists, for now.

I don't like the big roller coasters, so I skip Hulk, DC, and RRR. I enjoy all of the other rides at Universal. Mummy is tamer than those other ones. If you like Space Mountain or Everest you probably will like Mummy.

DW gets motion sick, but she is fine on most of the rides.
