Compare Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's... Please!

is also at CM. At least he was last summer. This is important because my daughter loves Pluto. He was the last character to come to the table last summer. She even sleeps with a stuffed Pluto.

Crystal Palace breakfast:thumbsup2
Chef Mickey's dinner:thumbsup2

Oh thank goodness, this is what we have booked and I was feeling pretty comfortable with my decision until reading this thread.

Oh well we haven't been to either so it will be an experience and a chance to make up our own minds on what they are like. I am sure all the food can't be inedible so we will have dinner/breakfast and watch the kids faces as the characters come around.

If you are comparing on food quality, selection and taste, IMO there is no comparison - CP is good and CM is not. People are drawn to seeing Mickey Mouse, but I doubt anyone is drawn there for the quality of the food. Similarities - characters (albeit different ones), buffet, noisy. That is where the similarities end though.

Based on my limited experiences with these restaurants, I concur with these sentiments.
I can only speak for breakfast, but I thought the Crystal Palace breakfast was good (pedestrian buffet fare, to be sure, but it tasted pretty good), and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful, particularly if you have a seat by the windows.
Chef Mickey's was a lot of fun, but the food there was just plain awful. Overcooked eggs, WAY-undercooked sausage (as in, thoroughly pink  ), soggy bacon, terrible breakfast potatoes, a general paucity of fresh fruit, etc. The Challah French Toast was tasty, but one item does not a buffet make.

Have had dinner at both. I found the food to be just about the same at both. However I like the atmosphere and character interaction much better at CM's. CP is "pretty" but I really like the atmosphere at the CR with the monorail going by overhead, etc..

I think breakfast at CP is much better than Chef Mickey's. Love the made to order omlettes, puffed french toast and fresh fruit offerings. CP is always a must do for breakfast for us and we usually try to dine there twice.

this thread is making me want to cancel my CM dinner on this sunday and try and get something else.....i know ill never find anything this late for 4. 2 teens and 2 adults..........would be kind of crappy Fathers day dinner for myself even though i scheduled it...i just like the atmosphere at the "Contemporary" for our first night at WDW....always like seeing the monorail.

maybe try and get a res at the "Wave"......

maybe someone might want to trade an ADR? this Sunday 6/15/08...off the top of my head its around 6PM.

already have: WCC,OHANAS,BOMA,ARTIST POINT,CORAL REEF,GFCAFE',SCI-FI,CRYSTAL PALACE

JMHO- But, never cancel your plans just because of a thread you see here.:goodvibes
Anyway, while I do think the food at CP dinner is better than CM dinner, CM's is fine. CP has much more interesting food but I have always found the food at CM's to be fresh and perfectly fine even though it is very simple fare like salads, mashed potatoes etc... And, IMHO dinner with Mickey at the Contemporary is a perfect way to start things off.:thumbsup2

Stop it! You're making my mouth water, and we wont' be at CP for breakfast for another 151 days!

Truly, CP is a great place to have breakfast. And I say this as a breakfast lover, and a picky eater. I just love the fresh fruit on the waffles. Mmmm.

I have had breakfast and dinner at both restaurants and have to say that the Crystal Palace was EXCELLENT for both meals. IMHO, more of a selection and more "quality". We do like CM's, my boys love the characters there and all, but for us, Crystal Palace has better food!

We got to CP for the food (don't care for the Pooh characters) and we go to CM for the characters (don't care for the food) LOL The food at CP is soooooo much better than CM!!

I have been to both for dinner and consider the food pretty much the same. We were at CM this past February and it was fine although I missed the cupcake bar they used to have.

We go to both places every year for dinner and this is our opinion...

CP- We LOVE the dinner buffet and the character interaction is so great. The atmosphere is so AMAZING being so close to the castle.

CM- Is a MUST do for us. The dinner buffet is okay ~ DS12 wants me to tell you that the desserts are the best though! The atmosphere is so much fun- it feels like such a party to me!

I hope this helps:)

We had dinner at both in December and CM was LIGHT YEARS better than CP...food, service and character interaction.

I would rank CP as last out of all the restaurants we ate at during our 8 night trip while on the dining plan.
