Common sense: resentment at VMK

:thewave: :thewave:

I am not offended in any way!! I am glad to see this post!! I have been working very hard at work and I have been unable top posts some of the posts I would like to--do you mind If I add them here??

and welcome GBShorts--you will love it here!!! :cool1: :cool1:

and I missed the thing on the other site--could someone PM me and inform me of what happened?? Unforunately I had to work---

GBShorts!!!!

It's about time you came over here!!!! WELCOME

As you know from there I feel the same way as Bezoar on this subject as I have made folks here and there well aware of.

Some think I am bitter but that is not it at all everything Bezoar has said I have said just not as eloquently as him.

I also have made it known that I think they need to add more elements to the game alittle faster. Before people start getting bored and quitting as we have seen on the other board also. But not to hijack this thread, I'll start another thread.

Again Welcome to the DIS and hope you make it your home!

To all who are just discovering the DIS, welcome. If you are new new, don't forget to check out the other forums. There is a Disney group to help with every interest from collecting (my long time home) to the cruiseline, parks, resorts and everything in between.

Wow. I didn't realize the favoritism is that bad. :( I agree with all that you said. I can't believe your post was deleted.

Wow! See what I miss when my internet goes out!? So sorry that your post was deleted on that other site. That's a shame when someone else determines whether your opinion should get 'heard' or not. Ugh. You have many valid points, and I'm glad that you decided to let us hear them. I have found posters on other boards rather rude to one another. Very much the opposite of this board. We are like a family here. :goodvibes

Your post was never actually deleted...The VMK Forums has decided to create another thread which you must sign up for...Here are the instructions for signing up for it so you and others can see your post and any replies:

(1) Click on User CP button
(2) Click on Group Members
(3) Click on Join Groups for Ranters
(4) Click on Forums button

Bingo!!! You will see your post right at the top of the rants section. I forgot the individuals name but they decided to start a new section called "Rants" which you must subscribe to. If I understand this whole new section and review your post it definitely falls here. You can also find it here as long as you do above

Honestly, This whole disboards and vmk forums thing sounds more like East Coast/West Coast thing...or even the bloods/crypts thing. I have seen many more negative posts here than I have on the other site, but they may manage the site or threads more effectively. I have signed up to both forums because you can meet some really great people and review some really great posts. If you have such a negative perception of vmk forums why not just have your account removed and stop viewing the site...Sort of makes sense to me. Oh one other thing "Can't We All Just Get Along!"...Who was that Martin who use to say that...

This isn't a war.
It is not they vs us...I for one find that some of the users at VMKforums are just plain rude. You will not find that often here.

constructive criticism of the game is not negative...and you know as well as anyone else that VMKproducers play favorites.

Hello,

I'm Dewberry from VMK. I post on both boards, but more frequently on the other, just because they have a trade board and forums for guest rooms, stuff like that.

Anyway, I wanted to say that I was in that particular room with the developer today, just listening and participating occasionally. Two of the testers were in there as well, and they were all open to questions apparently.

You can imagine all the questions that were flying around that room LOL
Both the developer and the testers were very nice and answered what they could. The goal of most of the people in the room it seemed was to get their own cursed storm pin fixed, and if it was their turn to ask a question, and that is what they asked, it was fixed for them.

I did not ask for mine to be fixed, because I am with Bezoar and figure I can get it fixed when they fix all of them, especially since I entered the code before I actually bought the cereal :rolleyes1

To me, everybody in the room was being treated equally. The room was open to all comers, as long as there was an empty space available, and nobody was turned away or ignored. Anybody could ask a question, as long as they waited their turn.

You might ask why they were in that particular room, and not another. Maybe because it is a good way to disseminate the information -- they know what gets said there is going to be spread over the forums and hopefully answer so many of those questions that get asked over and over again.

As for those considered "lucky" enough to get their cursed storm fixed, well, I consider myself luckier for finding a cast member during the celebration and actually winning a teleportation pin! I can wait for the other LOL I think they are just trying to make people happy and doing the best that they can.

If you see me in the Kingdom, be sure to say hi!

:disrocks:

By the way, WDWTigger, the post may as well be deleted for how well it is hidden on the VMK boards! I am on there every day and I never heard of a "Rants" forum until now. And without your specific instructions above as to how to subscribe to it, I would still not have seen it LOL

Actually WebmasterAlex, I hate to say you're wrong, but you are. Yes, Disney runs the physical aspect of VMK and allows VMK on their website, but the game its' self is not run by Disney. Rather, it is run by Sulake Labs FOR Disney :)

You can say I'm wrong when I'm wrong!
And technically you are correct.
My point was though and it is still valid that Disney has some measure of control over the VMK they have none on the VMK forums. The poster I was replying to made the statement that if they were doing things then deleting the threads....

Previously, I believe rants or some order of that could be considered flaming on the vmk forum site. It really toes the line (borders) so one of the moderators decided to start the "Rants" thread. So if your somebody who wants to see this thread you can, if people are a little weak hearted then they do not have to sign up for the thread. The moderator actually posted it right at the home page with instructions for signing up, so if you have a bookmark directly into all the threads then you could overlook the main page.

Thanks for clearing that up WDWTigger. I actually do have a bookmark to the main threads, so don't usually see the main page that often. I will go and remedy that right now :D

No problem. The moderators own the board and have the right to run it any way they choose. I respect that right. As a subscriber, I have the right to not participate, which is what I now choose.

I agree -- there are many fantastic people who are at those boards. My only regret, which I did mention at the end of the post, is that I will now no longer have the pleasure of reading their insightful posts, and may perhaps lose their friendship on VMK.

I have no illusions that the Dis boards is a "perfect" place either -- certainly there are highly opionated people here too. And again, if it ever bothers me too much, I can exercise my right not to participate here, too. For now, the Dis boards suit me better, not only here on the VMK forum (a tiny fraction of the world of the Dis boards) but elsewhere.

Oh, and the "Can't We All Just Get Along!" comes from Rodney King, the African American individual who was videotaped being viciously beaten by law enforcement authorities. An example of misuse of power.

Hi Dewberry!

I wonder though -- how were the rooms with the developers "found" by the players, at the beginning?

1) Was it through a general announcement, a system-wide message? That would be the most fair way, the way that would allow everyone playing VMK an equal chance to voice their opinions, and ask their questions.

2) Or was it that the developers entered a room, and then certain people who had them on their friend's list noticed that the developers were logged in and went to them?

Edited to add: realized that I forgot to mention how glad I am that the developers are trying to do what they can, and opening it up to everyone possible! The solution strikes me as "inelegant", rather than a global fix, and wasteful of the developer's time, but if they are willing to, it's great to see their dedication.

But, again, I'm happy that those who meet with the developers can get the pin they've wanted! :)

=====

I kind of like that there is no trade board here. I think there's in general less of a sense of "must have all the cool / rare" items. On the other hand, I could definitely see the use of it, for example when you need a particular discontinued item to complete a neat room set-up. So, if there were a trade board, I'd hope it would be in a sub-forum.

Regards, and thanks for saying Hi to me yesterday Dewberry!

Hey Bezoar - I always say "hi" to you, sometimes you are just too busy talking to see it ;)

As for how the people "found" the room the developer was answering questions in, perhaps whomever happened to be in that room when he came in began messaging their friends to come in as well. Then as the number of people inside increased, the room popularity took it to the top of the list, so then everybody was coming in, just to see what might be going on. Pretty much the same way it works for anybody else's room.

If the question is why the developer goes to that particular room in the first place to answer questions and fix pins, you would have to ask him that. Certainly there is a relationship there. Is there something wrong with that? If it affects the integrity of the game and how prizes etc are awarded, I would say definitely so. Does the fact that the room owner won ANOTHER best room award raise suspicion? Absolutely. In fact, if I had been one of the final judges, he would have had to have had the best, most out of this world fantastic room in order to be even in the top three LOL (Reverse discrimination, I guess.) However, they chose his room again, refueling all these feelings of suspicion and indignation. Their mistake, I think, and we all have a right to question their motives.

And yes, I find the trade board a great place to find stuff that has been discontinued in a certain color or whatever, and a wonderful way to make new friends as well. I have been lucky enough to trade my son's invisibility magic pin there for a fireworks pin, since we absolutely cannot win that game ourselves!

Lastly, about the personal pin fix, I don't understand that myself. I am still not clear whether they are ever going to fix the situation, as SillySyl said the inability to trade cursed storm "is not a bug", meaning it is deliberately programmed that way. So why fix some people's pins and not others? Because they asked, I guess. Again, you would have to ask the developer, which is not as difficult as it sounds. I have wandered into his room before on accident (just checking out the popular rooms) and he has always been more than happy to answer any questions or show off new things.

Yep, that sounds about right. :) Blah blah blah blah, what huh? ;)

From other posts, it sounds like things are, as expected, getting better at VMK. It really is amazing what a beautifully put-together game they have.

"Growing pains" and all -- I'm sure VMK will get more and more polished, especially with all us "rabid fanatics" agitating for improvement all the time.

they are really trying to make up for some of the wrongs done in the lastest event...although I have not received my pin and probably never will.

CMers were out giving away all sorts of things to players yesterday. I did not ask for or did I receive any was just hanging back and watching VMK_Red get bombarded.

The real test will come when they hold the next event...I truly do hope they have learned a few things and that history does not repeat itself in VMK.
