1 more week till it opens to the public, they were getting these ready for the Cast Member sneak preview they had later that night

this was one of my favorite rides as a kid, can't wait to see what they have done.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for this. We weren't going to DL until next year, but word of this has changed our plans. No date yet, but we are going. Maybe Thanksgiving.

I sure wish it would return to WDW. This makes for a good reason to visit DL though (only trip was when I was 5 YO - way too many years ago to let on!).

I'd rather see 20,000 Leagues again than a Nemo ride in MK - there's plenty of Nemo stuff already around WDW. I really miss 20,000 Leagues! But considering what they did with the area, I'd say there's no chance of it happening.

Don't get me wrong though, I am looking forward to checking out the new Sub ride at DL next time I'm out there. It turns out that another of my friends may be moving to LA later this year, so that makes the third friend of mine who lives there, all the more reason to go visit!

Why oh why couldn't they have planned this for the magic kingdom too?? In either form (20K or Nemo) rather than killing the lagoon.

Not that I don't like Pooh, but now that the lagoon is gone, I can't imagine this ever making it there.

But you need to go back, you haven't seen DCA, Indiana Jones, and who knows what all....

Yes, we were torn as to DL or WDW. My parents were from Santa Paula so I wanted to go out there too, and I have an aunt in Saticoy. Alas I was out voted, darn that being fair to everyone rule I implemented. I really don't like it when it bites me on the backside.

I don't know if DCA is a compelling reason to bother going out there. The new fireworks show ("Remember... Dreams Come True") is pretty amazing, better than Wishes for sure. And they have the real Tiki Room, not that awful "under new management" version that WDW dumped on us.

The big difference I noticed going to DL for the first time in my adult life was how small it seems next to WDW. At times, it almost feels like 10 lbs of stuff in a 5 lb bag. DL lovers prefer the term "intimate". Don't get me wrong, I am anxious to go back, but as a whole, it has a very different feel than WDW. No taking the monorail to get into MK, little of the "elbow room", and DCA is distinctly underwhelming IMHO. And don't even get me started on the very cheap Tower of Terror exterior!

You can take the monorail into DL, there is a stop in DTD that is outside the park and drops you inside the park, it was shut down for a while while the worked on it, but it was certainly working the last couple of times I was there.

Yes the park is more crowded, but they didn't have the space to work with, and it has been open for 20 more years, there are a lot more things inside it. to me I grew up going to DL, so the first time I walked into the MK it was like going into your house and someone rearaged the furniture, it was still very much the same, but yet different.

One of the problems with the fireworks at DL is they get canceled too much too, we didn't watch friday night figuring we would do so saturday, with the tripod and stuff, and it was canceled do to wind.

DCA has the Main Street Electrical Light Parade which could be reason enough for me to go!!!

Sha: Very good point about the MSEP - when I was at DL in '05, I didn't even realize that it was running there! I would have loved to have seen it again.

Master Mason, I meant the whole "crossing the Seven Seas Lagoon" experience, by monorail or boat... which admittedly you miss when taking a bus to the MK, but I think that it's still a lot more immersive, due to the sheer scale. Walt certainly agreed, it's not that DL has anything wrong but the "blessing of size" makes a huge difference to the whole experience.

Unfortunately, it was pretty crowded when we went, which I think was on two weekdays in August, but trying to get around the park when the fireworks were about to start was a nightmare, there were ropes everywhere and CMs with flashlights making sure that people passing through kept moving during the fireworks. Of course, the sidewalks were a crowded mess during Fantasmic as well.

But I guess I'll go back anyway.

Although like you, I am just going to have to make the sacrafise to drag myself down to FL again, maybe I missed something on my commando tour last year.

yes there is no alcohol in DL, well actually I think there may be in the 33 club, but I haven't ever gotten to go in there, or know anyone that has.

In DCA they sell beer and margaritas at one place, they put them in dayglow yellow glasses so that they can police it.

Also, at DL accross the entrance plaza is DCA, and at one end of the entrance plaza is DTD, so you could be sitting in a bar in 15 minutes are less from pretty much anywhere in either park, if you want.

To be honest, I like the fact that it is dry, kids don't need to drink, and when I am there, I am just a very large kid. Plus you don't have to deal with anyone else that can't handle their booze.

MK is not always dry. I was there one night when it was rented out for a private party. There were free snacks and booze everywhere and no kids were allowed. The CMs loved having a stroller free evening.

I agree with that... just a curiousity. Find I only drink at Food & Wine generally, though have been known for a Grey Goose frozen drink (which I didnt know people called slushies) at Epcot or something lemon in Italy, when I am staying on property.

They don't have refillable cups either.... (ducks and runs)
