Commercialize Christmas or ELSE!

I will say I think it is crimminal that suddenly we cannot call it what it is. All the other holidays including the "made up ones" are called by the correct name. It is just like everything else. Minorities rule. It is okay for us to use the names of all the other religious and non religious holidays that other groups celebrate or observe but the "bad" Christians cannot even call their own holiday what it is. I think it is bull and I for one hate this stupid political correctness.

Even though I am a member of a minority WITHIN a minority (I'm a lefthanded woman ), I don't go around demanding others cater to ME personally because I'm not like everybody else. I have learned to adapt. Let those who are not wanting to call Christmas Christmas adapt too.

I don't believe Christianity is all bad..after all I used to be one. BUT I do believe there are those who call themselves 'Christian' who make the entire GROUP look bad *coughcoughGodWarriorcoughcough*.

jen--I never knew that about Mithras. Gee..that's incredibly interesting. Makes me wonder if that's where the Christians got the idea for the whole thing in the first place.

No..I don't believe Jesus was a god. I think he was simply a prophet, sent (like others before him)to show people a more socially and morally acceptable way to live and conduct themselves. He just had more of a lasting impact than those before him. Why that was, I cannot say. He seems like he was a very charismatic guy to me. Perhaps that was his secret.

I don't really think the spirit of ancient Persians are rising up to punish modern day Christians for stealing their sun god's story and turning into their own religion. Although the Roman Empire did fall = maybe the Persians did it to them for punishment for stealing Mithras in the first place.
I can see it now -an army of Persians, Romans, Scandinavians, Druids, and pagans rising up to punish Christians by taking Christ out of a day that didn't entirely belong to them in the first place. More likely they're happy their ancient traditions are still being honored even under a different pretense than the original.

I get tired of Christmas being shoved down the public's throat for months but I really can't say I have all too much of an issue with it being commercialized. Christmas is such a mishmash of traditions and ancient religions so why not incorporate more to include the secular? Who knows? Christmas might have started to fade away as a less important holiday if it didn't become so commercialized.

An army of the undead rising up? Isn't that a Christian image? Didn't Jesus say he will raise the dead on the last day?

I must say I DO find that image quite amusing though..Ancient Persian, Roman and Scandanavian zombies in search of the blood of the American Christian. Mmm...American Christian blood...

This made me smile.

Another thing we learned about, is that when a people would conquer another people, they often meshed the two religions so that the conquered people would "follow" more easily. I wonder if this is where some of the parallels come in? I don't know enough about world history to know what types of wars were going on during that time period or if they were religious in nature. I just found this all very interesting. I'm honestly surprised I haven't been flamed yet for suggesting such things. (I'll post my research sources if anyone is interested.)

Christmas music and decorations started here in September. I think it's silly that I need to buy presents for those I love for one day a year. What about just appreciating them the other 364?

We are just playing and not mocking you or whomever provided the tidbit.
Just the part where commercialism was the punishment and hence that is the Christian bashing part.
