Commando v. Casual - The Innate Planner Battles the Inner Pirate - 2-8 P22

LOL now that is one interesting mental picture :lmao:
I want before and after pictures of us in a big group wearing our outfits.

Ladies, I think we have a pre trip report title.

And oh, my goodness. I so want to run in a tutu, tiara, and tie dye now.
Isn't it awesome? I love the idea. I also thought our tutus/tie dye could be inspired by our favorite princesses.

Third time?
Feel free to come visit me and get your tutu on. I take no offense to a tutu. ;)

Oh SNAP! Tutus, Tiaras and Tie-Dye: A 5K Trip Trifecta

I am ALL about this. Let's start a PTR. :rotfl:

OMG, lets. 19 months isn't too early is it? :rotfl2:

Oh and have I mentioned that I make tutus? :rolleyes1 :yay:

Although I think I'm more in lust...well...let's not go there. :lmao:

I was just hearkened back to your recent Dole Whip e-mail comment. Ahem.

I'm totally serious, let's do it.

I'm SO into it.
2013 - Royal Family 5K (assuming the name doesn't change) - all of us lovely ladies. I'm IN!

Hot holy carp, the World would never be the same!

I would, seriously, start a PTR for it. It would be neat because it would put feelers out there for anyone who would want to join us. And we could all contribute. It would be like a bunch of mini-PTRs all in one. I'm just not sure if it would get 'shut down' on the PTR board for being too early if we seriously started it now.

Isn't it awesome? I love the idea. I also thought our tutus/tie dye could be inspired by our favorite princesses.

So flippin' cute.

I'm not sure. See my post above this one.

Hmmm...it's a quandry all right. We could always start a thread on the community board and then move it over to the PTR thread later in the fall? I think that would be acceptable. But then the more I think about it, some people have had really long PTRs as well and I think as long as it is trip related it should be okay.

I was just "perusing" the PTR boards and there was a thread for Oct. 2012, but that's the furthest out I saw at first glance.

We could start on the CBs but I run into so many not nice people over there I'd be worried we'd pick up some unwelcome passengers, so to speak.

Maybe I'll PM one of the PTR moderators and ask. Whaddyah think?

Go ahead and PM them. I don't think there is a rule but it would probably be nice to get the okay, especially if we are planning trips and 5ks.

We were thinking of doing the January 2012 5k, but it looks like I'm going to have to have a hernia repair. But I totally could be down with 2013... Dates?

Done. I'll let you know what I hear back.

Seems to be following a new trend this past year and next - the last Saturday in February.

You MAKE tutus? Like I can request specific colors??? :yay:

PM a mod. I'd love to know if it'd be acceptable.:thumbsup2

I see Tink responded.

I'd love to have you join. :goodvibes

Absolutely! I will try to dig up a picture of the adorable tutu I made my friend's daughter. It was super sweet. I really want to make one for myself but so far I have resisted. I will admit that I made one for Ruby though...she did not like it. :rotfl2:

Dude. I so think you should make one for yourself! Are you not allowed to dress up for Halloween? Come on now!

Maybe I'll commission an outfit for myself. :scratchin

Me, too!

You and me both!! She wouldn't keep it on long enough for me to get any decent pics, they are just a pink and black blur. :rotfl2:

People at our bank (the operations center) don't really dress up, they put halloween earrings on and things like that but not full out costumes. I have always wanted to throw a halloween party though, maybe I finally will this year. Marc's 30th birthday was a success here in April so just maybe I will. :scratchin

And I will totally make you an outfit!! :thumbsup2

I love doing Halloween parties. I am so excited that this year Nemo will have his very own neighborhood to trick or treat in. So awesome.

I have totally gotten off topic, I really need to post a new chapter. :lmao:

Although technically not, because we are discussing a Disney trip, just not this one. :lmao:

LOL the idea of kitties in tutus has me cracking up...my cats would HATE me for sure...but like Tink said oh it would SO be worth it LOL!!!!

Hooray for Hollywood! I’m ready to start singing now. But before I delight you all with my splendiferous, melodious voice (ha, ha) I backtrack to the beginning.

Or rather, to the evening. I’d intended to start this chapter with May 29, the second day of our trip, but it occurred to me that when we got back to our room we had a rather charming display and a few new friends waiting for us.

Alright, I'm totally taking the centering the photos thing from creativeamanda. I love that on your trip report, and I'm doing it here!

Now, I have to tell you that when Nemo saw Squirt’s crib, he was pretty upset. Mousekeeping may not have realized we had more than one kiddo in the room, and they took all of Nemo’s lovies, and mixed them with Squirt’s, and well, let’s just say Nemo was not to pleased to see his brother getting all his lovies!

The blow was softened a little bit by seeing this:

DSCI0092.jpg

His pillow pet, properly situated.

However, I made sure to rectify that situation for the following evening, leaving no doubt as to the fact that there were two kiddos. ;)

And, for further fun, before we even get to talking about Disney’s Hollywood Studios and strong with the force :yoda: we are, I must include incriminating photos of my brood. As their mother and the woman who carried them for a collective 18 months, I feel it is my duty, nay, my right to take such photos. One never knows when future girlfriends / fiancées / wives may need to see such things.

DSCI0096-1.jpg

DSCI0095-1.jpg

In all honesty, this is pretty much a standard with me on trips. You have to take pictures of the exhausted kiddos. It’s just too dang cute. I remember when Nemo was a baby and he used to sleep with his little diapered patoot straight up in the air, legs folded under. My girlfriend and I would always use those types of photos at the finish of our scrapbooks, because they are, quite literally, the end. :rotfl2:

That was a fun digression, wasn’t it?

So we slept in a bit this morning, being that it was our first day of vacation.

Even though there was a Force :yoda: to be reckoned with.

Oddly enough, it’s nothing to do with Star Wars weekends that threw a proverbial wrench into our plans (No:darth:), but rather something a little more of the Pixar persuasion. More on that later.

We had reservations for an early lunch at the Brown Derby, and headed off to Hollywood Studios really looking forward to this meal. The first sit down of the trip. The Brown Derby. One of my favorites.

By the time we got to the park, we were pretty early on our reservation time.

Early enough to stop and take these photos.

DSCI0058.jpg

DSCI0059.jpg

And the obligatory…whaddya mean he’s sleeping…

DSCI0060-1.jpg

DSCI0062-1.jpg

(A little digression. Nemo calls that baseball cap his Mimi hat. It actually belonged to my mother, and is one of a few Disney polo hats she had. Nemo loves that hat so much, and wears it a lot. I'm so glad I could give him something tangible to help him feel close to her when he needs it.)

Now this shot is particularly funny because the first time we took Nemo to Disney World, he was about eight months old. And every time we would arrive at a park, he would be asleep. Nemo was my stroller baby. He LOVED his stroller. Honestly, he loved the stroller so much, he talked about how he would manage without one on this trip. This was his first trip as “a big boy” without a stroller, and he did awesome. There were a couple of times where he needed to sit for a moment, but I’m jumping ahead.

Anyway, point being, Nemo was my stroller baby.

Does anyone see where this is going?

See that picture of Squirt sleeping in the stroller? I want you to pay attention to that. Hold it in your mind. Ponder it a bit.

Here, just in case…

DSCI0060-1.jpg

Alright, you remember that for later, ‘kay?

So, with sleeping baby in tow, I headed to the Brown Derby to see if we could check in early. Nana was getting her ECV, and MJS was running to get fast passes for Star Tours and to check the situation with Toy Story Mania. You know, I will never forget the sight of MJS, with Nemo on his back, running towards Star Wars land. :lmao: So cute.

Now, I’m telling you. Star Tours was our priority on this day. We’d never participated in a Star Wars weekend, we know DHS would be crazy, and we were determined to be able to say we’d done it once. This was the right age for Nemo, and I knew MJS would love it.

I also knew it was a holiday weekend. And I knew about Toy Story Mania. I am no fool. I am a card carrying…well, you know what I mean…member of the DIS boards. But when my husband caught up with me at the Brown Derby to tell me, I was STILL shocked.

I could NOT believe it.

He got fast passes for Star Tours, no problem. And then he thought he’d check wait times and fast pass return times on TSM. Not because you can piggyback fast passes like that, but just because it was worth taking a look.

And I am not joking when I tell you that the fast pass return time at 1050 in the morning was a full TWELVE HOURS LATER.

I’m sorry.

I know.

But forgive me for a moment.

It’s ridiculous.

Really?

Really?

For a ride that I wasn’t sure that I even wanted to go on because my last memory of it was so Mom-specific, and so freakin’ awesome, I just wasn’t sure that I could do it.

But let me tell you. Nemo wanted to go on TSM. And talked about it. At length. Before we even went on the trip.

So this would be the ultimate turning point…though I didn’t know it yet…of our trip. The point where every decision then hinged on this simple fact. There was no way to possibly do Toy Story Mania and Star Tours in the same day. Because there was no way that we could keep the kids up that late. Right? Right?

And even if we could, by the time we could get fast passes, since we’d already gotten Star Tours ones, they’d be gone, given that they were already a TWELVE HOUR window, and almost at park closing time. By the time we’d waited the appropriate…what is it…two hours later you can get a fast pass or something…they were indeed gone, but I’m jumping ahead.

This all means that our other alternative was to wait in a 2+ hour line. With a ten month old. Who by the way, has recently started moonlighting as Houdini. I kid you not. Crawls out of exersaucers, high chairs with the greatest of ease.

And I’m also telling you…I don’t do 2+ hour lines. I don’t. Never mind the kids.

Which then leads to everything that follows from here on out. How do you make the commando and the casual work? How do you get your child on that coveted ride?

And how glad are you that you decided to park hop? ;)
