Coming to you Live from Disney World!-Take 2 AUG/SEPT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Hello all! :wave2: We have arrived and it is HOT! Hades Hot! People were saying the hottest day of the summer, possible record heat. :beach:

I had wanted to post some updates while on the train yesterday but the sleeper cars are not Wifi enabled! :scared1: 28 hours and no Wifi other than our phones!

I sent Rachel a few updates today which I know she will post. I wanted to add a few things but the Wifi here just isn't fast enough for photobucket so all direct updates from me will have to wait for my dining report when we get back.

THANK YOU to Rachel for minding the thread in Barb's absence! :flower3:

Our first update of the day came from JintyB! She is slowly getting adjusted to the time zone as this update only came at 6am! :lmao:

"The Wilderness Lodge looks pretty at sunrise though:"

"Yesterday we had breakfast here:"

"Some of our choices:"

"The ham and plantain were excellent together"

"And I waited at the buffet for very fresh Mickey waffles! :)"

"All the food was excellent. The characters were rushed through, but we got our pics and hurried off to visit the Yeti!"

3 Aug. game points + 6 Bonus points for sign, menu, pic with Goofy, sunrise pic, and First Update of the Day

JintyB also sent the next update!

"Lunch was at..."

"We had the Ahi Tuna, Green Beans, and Chicken Wings"

"They were all good, but the tuna was the star. So much food though- we barely made a dent in them before the entrees arrived.

DD had the Kobe burger served plain with just cheddar/salad"

"DH had the duck. He said it was great"

"I had the Malaysian seafood curry. It was wonderful"

"You may have guessed we're on deluxe dining, we booked when free dining was on and we just paid for the upgrade. We did this two years ago too and I'm thinking we must have managed it differently as you could've fed another family with our leftovers today!"

"Which introduces us to dessert (I want to call it pudding-it helps explain what my mum has always called my pudding stomach. It's when you can't fit in another mouthful of dinner but can clear a plate of dessert)":lmao:

"Anyway- with the help of my pudding stomach, I polished off the fried wontons"

"DH had them too but was defeated. DD had the chocolate cake and ate quite a bit but said it was more icing(frosting) than cake"

"We loved the interesting menu here and enjoyed the respite from a very hot Animal Kingdom"

2 Aug. game points + 2 Bonus points for sign and menu pics

JintyB had dinner at...

"Here are some fairly poor menu pics!"

"Our server brought us bread with the oil/Guinness/Sugar dip- much nicer than it sounded!"

"We started with the Dalkey Duo-yum!"

"DH and DD had fish and chips while I had the shepherd's pie. All good:)"

"For the Brits reading, when we arrived we joked about how much it felt like a Wetherspoon's pub! You'll be pleased to hear the food and service are much better! My DD announced it wasn't very 'Disney' to take her to a pub on a Saturday night!"

I have never heard of this! Is it like a UK Applebee's? I just looked it up!

Dessert:

"Trifle- DH had this but let me try. It was really good"

"DD had the strawberry and apple crumble. It was 'too strawberry' for her taste"

"I had the bread and butter pudding- it was crunchy and gooey and sweet. However, I think my pudding stomach was on strike and I could only manage a few mouthfuls" :sad1:

"We had a good time here. The meal was served at a leisurely pace and the band and dancers were excellent. DD tap dances and was enthralled by the Irish dancing"

2 Aug. game points + 3 Bonus points for sign and menu pics

Yorkshirebelle sent us the next update!

"Lunch today was at Epcot's Coral Reef. I'd read mixed reviews about Coral Reef but wanted a quiet, cool spot for a TS lunch as we were going to the Wishes Dessert Party at night and didn't want to be too full after a TS dinner"

Menu pics

"Bread service- soft, warm ciabatta rolls"

"DH had the chicken which came with a pasta which is rather like couscous, a cream sauce, tomato, and peas"

"I had the mahi mahi with laughing bird shrimp. It was delicious, one of the best entrees I've had this trip. I practically licked the plate clean!"

Dessert menu

"DH went for the chocolate wave- a flour less chocolate cake with melted chocolate in the centre. He really enjoyed this"

"I had the Baileys and Jack Daniels mousse, this was also delicious"

"I'm really glad we tried Coral Reef, the food was delicious, the service excellent, and the setting next to the aquarium was really unique"

3 Aug. game points + 3 Bonus points for name/menu pics

Yorkshirebelle had one more treat from Epcot!

"From Mexico we have on the right a frozen strawberry margarita and on the left a frozen fiesta margarita (lime, mango, and strawberry). Just what was needed on a scorcher of a day!"

Then they went to MK!

"Over at MK we had a QS dinner at Cosmic Ray's. Sorry no sign or menus and I'd already taken a bite out of my Angus bacon cheeseburger before I remembered to photograph it"

"Dh had the hotdog"

"Desserts were the QS predictable. DH chose the triple chocolate cake which he said was sickly"

"Saving myself for the dessert party I chose the mango gelato. This was actually really nice and refreshing"

"As it was our wedding anniversary today(Happy Anniversary!:lovestruc) I had booked the Wishes dessert party.

My first plate- fresh fruit, creme brulee, mango shooter, and chocolate covered strawberry- all good"

"Views of the castle from our table- that is until everyone moved to stand at the railing for the fireworks"

"My 2nd plate- from left to right- cannoli, chocolate brownie, apple pie, key lime pie, and banana cream pie"

"DH's 2nd plate (his first was all fruit so I didn't take a picture). Cupcake, tiramisu, mango shooter, chocolate cheesecake, and key lime pie. His plate was completely clean after"

6 Aug. game points + 1 Bonus Point for castle pic

Then we received our first updates from our new live thread contributors- Vicki and her son Andrew!!

"We made it! Our first Disney meal is at Paradiso 37"

"We split three plates. The crazy corn, the trio of Mexican dips, and the baja fish tacos"

"Here are the tacos. Very very good. Very fresh tasty crispy mahi mahi. We loved these"

"Really liked the decor here. This is the first time here for us and we are really glad we tried it! Two thumbs up!"

"We had to go over to Pop to straighten out a glitch with our December hotel reservation so we just had to stop for a.."

"This is a really good cupcake. Moist cake. Frosting isn't real sweet and is more of a whipped consistency that most Disney cupcakes. Worth the trip"

Totally agree! I loved that cupcake so much!

6 Aug. game points + 4 Bonus points for name/menu pics and misc. pic

Then Vicki and Andrew made a pit stop here....

"No description needed:)"

"Guess where we had dinner??:upsidedow"

"And of course dessert!"

And it is very ironic that Vicki sent me a 'Ohana update because I made something 'Ohana related for dinner!!

I was obsessed with their honey lime dressing that they used to have so I re created it using the recipe on All Ears! I still like the new mango dressing but I really love the honey lime dressing.

'Ohana Honey Lime Dressing

It was delicious- tasted just like the old dressing they used to have!

Oh, Disney food, how I want you!
(Formerly) Angebee with one last, absolute and final name change on these boards (Dreamport, because who doesn't love the old Imagination ride?) and date change. We'll be arriving on Sept 22nd instead of the 23rd! Okay back to the drool-worthy food, please.

My daughter and I also loved the mahi maui! Yumm!

Yorkshirebelle sent us the next update!

Awesome updates - thanks Rachel :thumbsup2

JintyB - as a fellow Brit, I totally get your reference about a Wetherspoons Pub :rotfl:

Cant wait for that Mahi Mahi at CR next month!!! Wish they still had creme brulee on the dessert menu tho..

Just wanted to say hello and confirm that I'll do live reporting from Disneyland over Labor Day weekend. Looking forward to my visit for the Dumbo Double Dare! (And my first trip to Disneyland!)

This was Yorkshirebelle's review:

After dinner we went to Jellyrolls for drinks and entertainment. Sadly we were very disappointed. Little actual music, small audience who were constantly asked the same questions by the performers who delay your requests to make sure you stay longer. Drinks were also expensive. We would not go back as it was not worth the $12 entry fee.

Expensive vodka and cokes!"

Sorry you had a bad experience, before going to Jellyrolls, we check out their facebook page to see who is on the schedule and if they have any private parties that night. We won't go unless Scotty :goodvibes is playing.

Hello everyone! :wave2: After taking the red eye from Seattle to Chicago last night, a two hour drive home, and a morning nap, I am now ready to resume my duties as host of the live thread. But first, please join me in showing our appreciation to Rachel for keeping the thread alive during my vacation.

:thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

Now for some live updates from Disney World, beginning with several which I received yesterday from Jeanette (JintyB). I will have to confer with Rachel to see if these were our first and only updates yesterday, so that is yet to be determined.
