Ellen (podsnel) & family moved today from AKL to the BWV and spent the evening at the Food & Wine Festival.


Here is what they tried this time...

From France: "Coq au Vin sur gratin de macaroni"
(Red Wine braised Chicken, Mushrooms, Pearl Onions and Macaroni Gratin)

From France: Escargots Persillade en Brioche
(Garlic and Parsley Snails in Brioche)


Ellen said, "Both of these were not as good as other years."

From Belgium: Steamed Mussels in Hoegaarden Beer Broth and Baguette


Ellen said, "These were excellent!!! And they paired with a Stella Artois...fantastic!"

From New Zealand: Lamb Meatball with Spicy Tomato Chutney


Ellen said, "It was ok for me, but Pods adored this."

From New Zealand: Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc

From New Zealand: Seared Sea Scallop with Kumara-Red Curry Puree and Apple Radish Salad


Ellen said, "I really liked it more other years."

Ellen said, "My girlfriend, Sue, and her DD, Martha (age 10) were with us tonight.
They went to Paris last spring and Martha was dying for a chocolate crepe."

Note from jabead: I read on the Disney Food Blog that the Triple Blast Ice Pops were replacing the Itzakadoozie on the Ice Cream carts at the parks.






And then last Ellen said, "We miss our Jambo Grand Villa but wow, is it ever great to come home to this at the end of the night."

GoofySon'sMom - Vicki and the Goofy Son (Andrew) will be visiting WDW for the last weekend of the F & W Festival.
They arrive late on 11/9 and are there through 11/13 and staying at the All Star Music resort. She has started her PDR.

Ice-cold jumbo shrimp, served with classic cocktail sauce





Then for their entrees, Tyler and Tim both had this...

FRIED SHRIMP
Golden fried shrimp served with crispy french fries, vegetable slaw, and cocktail sauce





Sean chose...

FRIED COD SANDWICH
Tempura battered cod filet fried and served atop a Challah bun with spring lettuce and tomatoes in a light citrus dressing





Pods had the...

LOMBARD'S CRAB CAKE SANDWICH
Tender lump crab meat served with a zesty Dijon tartar sauce and topped with spring lettuce and tomatoes in a light citrus dressing.


Ellen said, "He said this was just ok."




And Ellen had...

LOMBARD'S LOBSTER ROLL
100% North Atlantic lobster cut into bite size chunks with Dijon mayonnaise and served on a buttered split bun with shredded lettuce. Served with homemade seasoned potato chips and cole slaw.


Ellen said, "This was delicious and the cole slaw was the best...YUM!"



Ellen added, "No dessert, we were too full! I'm very glad I rode Rip Ride Rockit before lunch.
Our lunch was very, very good!" ​

Just received our first update from Roma.
She and her DH arrived this morning and went straight to Universal from the airport.


Roma said, "We were famished. Quick service seems to get "meh" at the studios but a fair number of people said Louie's was the best of the worst, so to speak, so we headed there."

Pizza Combo - Any Slice of Pizza and a Small Caesar Salad (not pictured)


Roma said, "Unfortunately my hunger took over and I ate half of my pizza before I remembered my duties! We got the pizza combo plus an additional slice of pizza to share. Everything was standard but made our empty stomachs happy. We paid $11 and saved 10% with our AAA card."




Then Roma said, "About two hours later Mr. Roma said he was still hungry and insisted we split a churro from a cart. It was really good, although it could have been warmer. It cost $3.00...no discount at the carts."

Then tonight Roma & her DH were at Downtown Disney and had dinner at...

Roma said, "This was our bread pudding "arranged" before we dug in."

Ellen said, "We barely made a dent, there was still a ton in the cup. This was as good as everyone says...especially dumped on the plate with the sauces on top."



Roma added, "I forgot to take a regular menu pic but here are the desserts."

I love the Raglan Road dessert menu! Thank goodness they kept my mom's favorite (the trifle), but it's exciting to see a bunch of new dishes as well. Raglan is definitely on our list for next time.

Ellen said, "I had to try the Peanut Butter Cake. I loved it...it was divine! But I was still full for my 8 p.m. ADR at Tony's."

Note from jabead: I'd remembered reading about this dessert on the Disney Food Blog a few months ago, so I was very excited when it was included in a live update.

Ellen said, "Sean and I were alone for dinner, so we headed over to Tony's."

Shrimp Scampi - Linguini with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Asparagus tossed in a Garlic sauce



Ellen said, "I knew already I was having the shrimp scampi but the waiter sealed the deal when he told me the two best things on the menu were this and the chicken parmesan. It was fantastic! I would go back and have it again anytime. It had 8 perfectly cooked shrimp, which I thought was very generous. The asparagus was also cooked well. I was expecting mush, but it was not...it was al dente, very nice!

French Fries



Ellen said, "These were not on the menu, but I asked the waiter if he could find a big plate of french fries back there in the kitchen for Sean. He'd had a rough day and I knew this was the only thing he wanted."

Thanks so much to all of you who have volunteered your services during your upcoming trips. Because of you, we should have a steady stream of fresh Disney food porn to drool over from now until Christmas.

But here are the dates which we could still use some additional live reporters:


December 21 - December 27 - 1 more reporter needed

December 28 - January 1 - We have no one yet for these dates

January 2 - January 10 - 2 or 3 more reporters needed

January 21 - January 31 - 2 or 3 more reporters needed


So if your trip to Disney World falls during any of these dates, please consider doing live updates for us either by text or email. Also, if you're going sometime between now and the end of January but not during the above listed dates, please still check with me if you would like to be a live reporter. I might still be able to squeeze you into the schedule depending on your dates.
