We received an update from AlohaPolynesian last night after the deadline, so it's now considered part of today's updates.


She and her mom were at Epcot last night and had dinner at...



Rose & Crown

AlohaPolynesian said, "We had an awesome dinner at Rose and Crown! I had the Vegetable Pie, and my mom got the fish and chips. I also ordered a bowl of the seasonal soup which is currently butternut squash. Unfortunately I forgot to ask if there was meat in it and there turned out to be a few chunks of ham. I just picked them out and ate the soup anyway and it was really yummy."

"We both really enjoyed our meal, and we got a seat on the patio and had an awesome view for Illuminations! We were right under a heat lamp though and the glowing red light made it impossible to take pix of the food."

English Rose
Beefeater Gin, apricot brandy, sweet vermouth, pineapple, orange & cranberry juice. Served in a souvenir cup.



AlohaPolynesian said, "I've included a photo of my cocktail - English Rose - so you can see what I mean.
The English Rose is one of the tastiest drinks at Disney and I have one every time I go to Epcot!"

Our First Update of the Day was sent by Jess (ILikeWaffles).


Jess said, "Sorry for the lack of updates the last couple of days. I came down with the same thing that Pete had a few days ago, so I stayed in bed for a day or so. Last night, Pete and I went to the Boardwalk to check out the Christmas decorations."

Then Jess said, "We stopped at the Boardwalk Bakery and picked up an Oreo Bon Bon Cupcake. Pete really liked it, especially the soft frosting. I didn't care for it, but I think my taste is a little off right now from being sick (because I hated everything from start to finish at 'Ohana last night)."

disneydivamama said, "They were fine. Nothing great. I ended up eating the shrimp out of a couple of them."

ddm said, "DH had the short ribs. He thought it was dry...it had definitely been sitting out waiting to be served under the heat lamp. Not something I would have ever paid $26.00 for typically."




Then for dessert, disneydivamama chose this...

ddm said, "I liked the ice cream, but for me, the pastry wasn't worth the calories!"

disneydivamama said, "He enjoyed it; liked the subtle heat and the combination of flavors."



disneydivamama's overall comments, "My honest opinion of the place? I would never pay out of pocket for it. WAY overpriced. It was obvious that our food had bee pre-prepared and was waiting on the warmer. We ordered, I took DD to the restroom, and our food was waiting for us when we returned. Our family knows good Mexican food...at about 1/3 of the price." ​

Since we haven't yet received any updates from our current live reporters today, I'm going to post some of the updates which Gina (Gina99) emailed to me from home yesterday. As you may recall, Gina and her family took their first trip to Disney World from 11/24 - 12/1 and she emailed some live updates to us during the first few days of her trip. However, being her first trip to Disney World, she became a bit overwhelmed with it all. But now that she is home, Gina was able to send us all of her great updates.

So without further ado, let's bring on the food.


This first update is from 11/27 at the Polynesian Resort's...


'Ohana Lilo and Stitch Best Friends Character Breakfast

Gina said, "We started out with the pineapple coconut sweet bread and you can see my boys ripped in to it as soon as they brought it to the table.

Gina said, "We also had a fruit tray and some guava juice cocktail."

Gina said, "Then we had our big tray of eggs, sausages, biscuits, bacon, and potatoes.
The Mickey waffles were served separately."

"The big win with this breakfast was it being served family-style. I found this method really worked for our family with 2 young children. We had the selection of a buffet but didn't have to keep the kids entertained while grabbing plates!
It was a win win!" ​
