What do you wear to ensure comfy feet while touring the parks? I am about due for a new line of sneakers and want to pick up a pair which will be comfy and of course nicely broken in by time we arrive!

Buy a pair soon and wear them around. Last year I bought a new pair of sandals for both myself and dd, we both ended up with blisters even thou we wore them around the house for a few days. It wasn't enough time. We are going to WDW next week and I bought dd new sandals and running shoes and she has been wearing them around the house for abour 3 weeks. I bought new crossing trainers and I have been wearing them to aerobics and step classes for a month to break them in. I will wear my OLD comfy sandals from last year. I usually bring either too many shoes or not enough. During 1998 trip my only and fav sandals broke in WDW so I had to buy new sandals in Florida, glad I did, ended up the best shoes! GOOD LUCK! Sandra!

Morning grover!

I have just been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and had custom orthotics made for me. I also got a pair of New Balance walking shoes and they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn! This same topic was started on the Budget boards and all in all most of the folks there also said they loved New Balance! Good luck in whatever choice you make.:)

Hi grover! :sunny: I bought myself a pair of walking sandals by Teva. They are great and dry very quickly if you get them wet.

I just bought a new pair of Nikes (not my first choice, but the fellow swore they'd be comfortable and they're popular with the nurses)...not bad but VERY white! :D Last pair I bought were Rebok DMX and BOY am I steamed about them....they were fantastic....for a week. Felt like walking on air. Then the squeak started in one shoe. "It'll go away, they're new", I thought. Few days later the OTHER shoe went. Long story short, by the time I replaced them I had dogs barking at me, joggers staring and children pointing and giggling...not good for the self-esteem! :D

(And before anyone tells me I should have taken them back, I didn't know I could since I'd been wearing them outdoors for more than a week)

New Balance is supposed to be the best walking shoe...Athlete's World in Polo Park (that's the one you go downstairs to isn't it?) had them on sale last weekend.

Hi Sammi:

I also got my second pair of orthotics, broke three bones in my foot two years ago, and I put them in a pair of new balance, walking shoes, look like crosstrainers, or sneakers. They are great.

I will be putting these orthotics to the test for our trip to wdw next week, I hope my foot doesn't ache from all the walking. I also was told they are great for plantar fa. as they help the foot propel forward.

Ouch Deb!:( I feel for you with your broken bones....that must have been awful!:(

When at WDW I found just taking my time and sitting down for a bit to "people watch" helped me. But I do love my New Balance.;) I've been doing lots of walks around my neighbourhood since the weather improved as I'm also diabetic and MUST exercise every day and my feet have been feeling really good.:)

Let me know how you manage next week at Disney and above all have a blast!!!!!   :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Thanks Sammi, love your little people expressions. That is what hubby said, take our time, and see what we can see, six years ago I was running to everything, but not this time.
Bye,

Deb.

I agree you should break in your shoes before your trip, but also bring along some moleskin bandages. They have saved my feet many, many times at Disney.

Hi grover,

I was told by my teenage daughter that New Balance were the comfiest (yet in her words "not the greatest looking") running shoes she has ever worn. (She is a runner.) Well last weekend my younger teenage daughter and myself were out shoe shopping for our upcoming trip to Disney and thought we would come home with a couple of pairs of New Balance. What we discovered, however, was a brand of shoe that was a lot comfier than any of the New Balance shoes we tried on. The brand is "Saucony" which we had never heard of. The salesman (at Sport Chek) said these were the only running shoes he could wear that kept their bounce. He is a runner and runs approximately 45 km. a week. While he was in the back a woman (also a runner) starting discussing the brand with us and said once she started wearing Sauconys she was hooked.

Well I ended up buying a pair at Sport Chek and since they didn't have my daughter's size in stock in the style she liked, we tried Sports Experts and low and behold they carried Sauconys and had the style and size she wanted.

The only way I can describe these shoes is that I am walking on comfy little mattresses made especially for my feet.

Good luck shopping - you just might just be pleasantly surprised if you try this brand.
