Yes, I know that the HOJO has the Dreamscape beds -- and if I have anything to say about it (or maybe I should say enough to say about it), that's where we'll be staying later this fall. However, there may be some in our party that will override my vote for various reasons totally out of my control. So, can I get your input on what other walking-distance (that means 10 mins or less to me), moderately priced hotels have comfortable beds? The other condition would be that they have rooms/suites that hold at least 6--that's one of the extenuating circumstances that might affect where we stay--and they just won't be satisfied with an adjoining room. Sigh. Anyway . . . my definition of a comfortable bed is (1) not hard, (2) not saggy, and (3) come with decent, non-pilled/non-scratchy linens. And another important factor for me is that they hotel/motel has clean rooms that are hopefully not too threadbare. (Man, I'm sounding picky. :upsidedow Sorry.) Thanks for your help!

You're not being picky you just know what you like and don't like. I was just wondering those same things! I'm considering Desert Inn and Suites (because it is so close) but I wanted to know about the beds first. I also love Hojo!

I planned on going with Desert Inn since they are close and we had a great rate, but as it got closer to our date (now less than 4 weeks) I was having anxiety attacks over that decision. We have switched back to our original reservation at HoJo and I am SOOOOOOO relieved!

I've heard ok reviews of DI&S, but the beds are older and don't come close to HoJo.

The way I figure it an extra five minutes walking (after walking for 12+ hours anyway!) is well worth a comfy bed! I don't sleep well away from home, so I can use all the help I can get.

Best Western Stovall Inn has refurbished all their rooms, and their beds look awesome..in the reviews everyone raves about them.

I got a great deal on Get Away Today.com...4th and 5 night free, making the cost $62.00 a night.

We usually stay on-site. That being said in 2008 we stayed off at HoJo's with other relatives. I hated the walk accross Harbor. But, I really was very happy with the staff and cleanliness of the room. We stayed on the top floor with the skylight rooms. The beds were very comfortable. We even had room to bring an air matress and it was not in the way at all. We only had 4 kids then but 2 are teenagers and we had lots of room. The pirate theme pool area can be fun to for younger children.

Sorry, I don't know of any place with better beds than HoJo but you would probably want to avoid FFI. Their beds aren't horrible but they are a little firm and a far cry from the ones at HoJo. Good luck with your search and I do hope that you'll end up staying at HoJo.

I loved the beds at Fairfield Inn! They were very comfortable and the walk is so much shorter than the walk to Hojo. I also loved the beds at Hojo. Did you mean you need a room that holds six and not a connecting room or not an adjoining room (meaning on the same floor but not necessarily connecting)? If it's connecting rooms you need you should be able to get that at FFI or Hojo, but I know Hojo won't guarante it. Not sure about FFI. I heard BWPPI just finished renovations on their rooms so maybe their beds are new? :confused3

It can be connecting, but NOT adjoining -- the kids are too young. That's why I think the HOJO is going to be "out" since they can't guarantee a connecting room. Unless I can talk the parents into separating into different rooms!
