Comfortable/practical shoes with capris?

Looking for suggestions....I wear capris during the summer much more often than I do shorts, and plan to do the same at Disney. But at home I just kick around in my sandals; that's not going to work for the amount of walking we'll be doing in Disney.

What kind of shoes should I be wearing with capris that will be functional without looking clunky and awkward? Forgive me, I'm fashion-challenged...

Tennis shoes - Everytime we go to WDW I have to remind my friend "nobody knows you - who cares what you look like!?" Everyone else there is on vacation too and wants to wear comfortable shoes or wishes they had worn comfortable shoes!

Just take pictures from the knees up and nobody will know your shoes didn't coordinate!

I agree with the above posters, go with the white tennis shoes. I went on a cruise in May and chose to wear capris (don't have legs for shorts!) and wanted to have comfortable feet. Looking down at my feet, with the white tennis shoes on sure made them appear as though they were big and clunky and very white (heck, they were new!). But when I got my photos back I realized they didn't look big and clunky at all, they looked fine. So when I leave for Disney World this Saturday I will have those white tennis shoes on for sure!

Whenever my wife asks me which shoe looks better with what she is wearing I almost always answer "which one is more comfortable?"

I will never own a shoe that isn't comfortable no matter what looks good.

When they say white tennis shoe, please DON"T take that as a ked type shoe. They have no support, and you might as well wear sandals. Get an athletic shoe, I know I know, but really, you'll be glad you did.

I wear my sketchers with a pair of fluffy ankle socks. Hanes makes good ones.

I actually prefer Berkenstocks, just got back and the day I wore my Nike's my feet were hot and tired but not with my berkies.

Berkenstocks? The hard wooden clog thinggies??? Oh my, I've never tried them, but they look so...unyielding!

Maybe very plain white runners, sort of low profile but with good support, might sneak past, yes, with some little ankle socks...I'll have to find some good ones that won't sneak down into the shoes, the favourite habit of ankle socks around the world.

It's kinda clunky, but you're all probably right...it's a lot of walking, and I already have plantar fasciitis (however you spell that) and have to wear my orthotics...

Hi Kris,

I was thinking the same thing - what comfortable shoes to wear with capris? I ordered these yesterday (zappos.com) - they're supposed to be really comforable and I figure I can wear them with or without socks, depending on the weather, etc. They seem slightly more stylish than my clunky and hot tennies. I like the idea of being able to kick them off and slip them on easily, too. Don't know how they'd work with orthotics, though...

Actually, they have a cork footbed and the uppers are usually soft suede straps if you go with the sandal style. They are really good for your feet, have excellent arch support and are very comfy. It took me a while to get used to the way they look, but now a lot of people wear them and I wear them with capris all the time! I also like my Teva's with capris and they are good for Disney, too.

I don't know how Berk's would work for someone with plantar fac. . .whatever. I have it, just can't spell it!! Because we need something pushing on that arch or it flattens out, and they mold to your foot. I wish I could find some sandals with arch support. I found one pair of easy spirits and would like to find more before the trip.

The new balances you showed would be great for someone with no heel problems, my dr had a fit when he saw my slides. He said you need something tight around the heel, to support it. I still wear some I bought, but not as often, as I can feel it after a while. I'm addicted to slides/mules too.

I must be totally out of style! When wearing tennis shoes, I wear nothing but Keds. I will only wear solid white with no color at all, not even the name. I also don't like the look of shoe strings, so I wear pull on tennis shoes with white elastic straps. I wear the very short, can't really see them, white socks. I think my Keds are very comfortable. Believe me, they get plenty of theme park time.

I recommend you wear what you wear at home. Definately don't try to break in new shoes at WDW....
That said, I wear Tevas or Clark sandals with jeans, capris & shorts. My feet get to hot in sneakers unless it's chilly. I've tried it before & I'm just too miserable if my piggies can't breath.

I think you would be very comfortable in a pair of Tevas while at WDW. I wear them all the time with capris.

When we go next month, I'll either be wearing my sneakers, if it is cold enough, or wearing my Earth sandals from Walmart. The Earth sandals don't look too bad with most of my capris, thank goodness. Now if the doctor can just get that dratted pebble (or whatever it is) out of my foot before I go.....

I can't wear tennis shoes at DW. My feet get too hot. I wear my Teva flip-flops all the time. They are the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn. They have a great arch support.

During our walks this summer DH couldn't believe that I would wear them. I managed to find 3 more pair at the end of the season in case something happens to mine, I will still be all set for Disney next summer.

I miss them now that it is getting colder.

backless Clarks.

Mine have been to WDW 100's of times and they love to visit. They never die. I never get blisters. I can walk 14 hours/day in them.......
