Comfort Stations Need Attention

For all you bashers on the boards, lay off the newbies.

I'm sure no one meant to be unwelcoming to a newbie, we had a really bad and long experience with an internet troll which has left us a bit cynical, I hope you understand.

Welcome to The Dis. :flower3:

I would say that the Fort has some of the cleanest CS I've encountered, but I can't say I have ever found them "spotless" or "pristine". For some reason, I have found the CSs in the cloverleaf less tidy than in other loops (yes, on the same trip). And some of these conditions are not something that is the result of one idiot... I have seen HUGE cobwebs in the showers for instance, that would certainly have taken considerable time to build. And tons of soap scum... that doesn't happen overnight either. And mold on the shower curtain, again, not something that just springs up. The Fort staff, in general, does a pretty good job, but I could not claim they are perfect.

ckillian, we all welcome you, but you should know right off the bat that the use of the word " sanitary napkins " can't be used until reaching the 100 post mark. Instead please use the term " cotton women thingy "....this is what threw Deb off...hehehe :lmao:

I can shower with a couple of little bugs, lizards, cobwebs, and soap scum but I can not shower with other human excrement's. Yes, there are slobs out there but I expect to see that stuff in shower stalls at other campgrounds NOT Disney campgrounds!!

Next time I go to McDonald's drive thru, I'm gonna ask for extra cotton women thingies.

We've spent 9 weeks at FW in the last 4 years and have never found the comfort stations to be anything but spotless - laundry rooms included.

On our June 2007 trip the first time I used the CS in the 200 loop it was obvious that somebodies kids decided to have some "fun". I just used the house phone to let them know about the problem and somebody was out to clean it up quickly. That was the only time I noted the CS anything other than clean. I wouldn't call them spotless but they are a far cry above the facilities I have used at any other campground I've stayed at, although the KOA in Carlsbad was right up there on our trip this Christmas.

The showers have always been clean when I have used them over the last several years.

I have, however, encountered no hot water several times. I don't get it! We always go during the slower times. There is usually no one else using the showers when I'm in there. So, why no hot water? I let it run for a really long time, waiting and waiting. Each time it happened I just got into my golf cart and used a shower in another loop.

We were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the comfort stations during our stay at the Fort this past week!! Showers stalls were full of sanitary napkins, a dirty diaper and candy. One shower stall had toilet paper with fecal matter on it, very disgusting because it contaminates the whole entire shower floor. After showering there for 3 nights we decided to ditch our 1400 block comfort stations and showered in the 500 station. I did report the problem from the house phone but either way Disney should be checking on the bathrooms on an hourly basis.

Also during the Chip and Dale sing along forget about going to the bathroom in the 1400 comfort station, there's a line to use it from all the attendees at the sing along. I think we should get priority over them, we paid for the our camp site and the use of that comfort station.

Let's take a step back here everybody and see this for what it is. For CKILLIAN to walk into the CS showers and see this kind of thing leads me to believe (1) that perhaps this was done on purpose. To have the stalls full of sanitary napkins probably means it's the same ditch pig of a woman that did it repeatedly. It's probably her kids' diaper and candy too. It's just too over the top for me to believe that it isn't either someone doing it on purpose for the shock value, or (2) one woman with her kids (to which she passed on her values, or lack thereof) responsible for the scene in the showers. To see the same thing for three days in the CS means it's probably the same person(s) doing it, and on purpose. Who, in their right mind, thinks that a mess of this nature should be cleaned up by someone other than the person who created it.

I agree with the above. I do believe it was the same person over and over leaving all her crap for the rest of us to see.

Sorry - but you did come off strong & distasteful. You'd have to understand the history and the fact your screen name is very similar to someone who caused a lot of trouble in the past.

I've been a "Fort Loyalist" since 1974 (I can't even give you a # as to how many times we've stayed there - it's so many), and have never seen a CS in any condition other than perfect. I'm sure you must have hit it after a bunch of scums used it. I'm sure that is very possible.

I apologize for coming on strong. I should have been a little more objective, I guess.

Anyhow, don't let one mishap cloud your image of FtW. It's a wonderful place to stay, and safe for you & the kiddies. I do agree that the CS on 1400 should be larger because of the movies and the busyness that can cause. They should put a separate rest room for the movie "theatre" nearby. Stall #2 would be reserved for NTSammy5, however.

Welcome, and please accept my apology.:flower3:

That's a good point. The only CGs I have stayed in that had cleaner restrooms are both CGs that cater to age 50+ guests. I think in general, kids and parents with their hands full of kids are less tidy than unencumbered older folk (not as a rule, just generally... don't flame me!).

As I said in my reply, our experience in the 1400 CS that trip was an isolated incident. Although I have found obvious messes left by other less hygienic campers, the problem that we had was a combination of a less than ambitious CM (we all know that person at work who just phones it in) and the amount of traffic at that CS due to the campfire program. Not surprisingly it lasted until the CM was off for a few days (at the end of our stay) and as soon as another CM was assigned to it the amount of cleaning went up dramatically. I would venture a guess that the CM in question is no longer around, that level of apathy cant go on forever.

Can't we all just get along? Oh the humanity. :cool1:

Stall #2 is still clean.

Hey, we were just there--KOA Carlsbad--last week! Their bathrooms were pretty amazing: granite countertops, under-mount sinks, sky lights, piped-in music, wallpaper. Really! It all astounded this camper on a potty-run! I've never seen such grandeur in a campground bathroom before. Usually, I'm just happy to have hot water, soap and hand towels provided, and not have to bring quarters for the shower.

But there was one thing FW does better: they don't put combination locks on their bathroom doors. At KOA Carlsbad, I couldn't use the bathrooms without bringing my reading glasses to get into them! (And yes, I had to walk back to my tent trailer...twice!)

...never seen the bathrooms in bad shape at FW...
