Comfort Inn LBV $29/night- released through 2/28/10!

The kids don't even know that we are going to Florida in February, let alone going to WDW!
Our trip is a surprise for our kids too. (I just kicked my daughter out of the room- she wants to know what I'm doing:)). I'm debating telling them at Christmas as part of their gifts or waiting until the day we leave. Not sure which... sometime half the fun of the trip is the excitement and planning. If I wait until the day we leave, they miss out on that part.

Has anyone used the shuttle to the disney parks? We will have a car, but there might be a few days that we would rather not drive/pay to park. I don't want to end up stuck at a park though. It looks like the shuttle schedule is posted on the hotel web-site. There are not many late night trips back to the hotel. We like to take our time at park closing and I wouldn't want to have to feel rushed to make the last shuttle back to the hotel.

When I was there in 2007, our group of six took the bus transportation the first 2 days of our trip. While the service was free, it frequently took an hour to an hour and 15 minutes to get to the parks, and then a hike to the entrances as the dropoff is the farthest possible. It is a motorcoach style bus that was air conditioned. We never chanced missing the last bus, and frequently rushed to get to the bus, which could be fairly full after park closings.

Off the record hint: After being disappointed with the wait time on the first two days, we all piled into a 4 door honda civic and set out to park ourselves. We memorized the bus route, which goes through some "backstage areas" at disney. The route comes out by the contemporary resort, but after the parking pay area. After taking a slight detour that I don't quite remember, we would pull into the TTC parking lot, park for free, and then take disney transport to whatever park was on tap for that day.

I booked it the other night for dd's cheer competition the last weekend in Feb. Past it along to the rest of the team and it was sold out.. great deal for two nights for $65 total;)

If you can remember more about your route I'd love to hear it. I can't think of any way to get to the Contemporary, or any other Magic Kingdom Resort, without going through the Magic Kingdom gate where you have to pay for parking. Disney buses and resort guests even have to go this route (they obviously don't pay, but they do drive through the booth).

This hotel is the perfect fit for when you want more than a motel but less than a resort. I had already made reservations for our November trip, but you can still find this hotel on Kayak for $32. If you don't know Kayak, it searches the rates on dozens of hotel and travel sites and shows you the best rates. The rate I saw routed you through EasyClickTravel. I have booked via EasyClick and Kayak many time with no problems.
