Come to the Dark Side...We Have Cookies...(updates 4/3)

congratulations to Grumpy!

shirts sound cool!

happy your dad is doing okay!

They made it here just fine. The Sanford airport was very nice and small. Their flight was a good one. TSA went fine. I hope it's just as good on the return back.

I flew into the Sanford airport a few years ago and I thought it was nice as well. Glad TSA went easy on your dad. I am sorry to hear about all your parents are going through. :grouphug: It must be very tough.

We are in between classes at the moment. JJ got 2 new SW shirts. One has Yoda and says, "Trust me, a Jedi I am." The other is a Clone Wars T that has pictures and says Clone Wars.

Found 2 great Grumpy T-shirts for my oldest DS at the Turkey Lake Walmart on our way home from Sea World. The one is light blue and it says, " I'm one big ray of sunshine" the other is royal blue, has Grumpy pointing to himself and says, "This guy is Grumpy. He loved both shirts. I got a text a few minutes ago that he got a 100% on his project. :cheer2::cool1:

JJ has his homeschool showcase tonight.

Those T-shirts sound great!! I love the Yoda one. And congrats to Grumpy on his project. 100%! WOW! :cheer2:

Hope JJ is doing well. I'm glad his most recent seizure was pretty minor but really wish he hadn't been aware. :sad2:

Glad your having a good visit so far!!

The shirts sound like something I need to find for my dad!! He's a Grumpy kind of guy! Congrats Grumpy on your test!!

cool!!! :cool1:

and the shirts sound very neat!

:) The Orlando Walmarts have great Disney T's.

Way to go Grumpy...

it looks like he is almost smiling right?

Thanks. Lol, yes it does...almost.

Thanks.

Another small seizure today as well. JJ was reading to my mom. He was trying to read fast and wasn't breathing right. That change of breath pattern gave him a seizure. He said this time it felt like something hard stuck in his throat. He couldn't breath again.

Glad your having a good visit so far!!

The shirts are great. Do the Walmarts near Disneyland have Disney souvenEARS too?

I feel like I'm out of touch and getting behind. The last couple weeks have been very busy. My parents visited, JJ had his homeschool theater showcase, hiphop, baseball practice and games, his birthday, theater for special needs practice. Grumpy is in the middle of finals week. All his projects were turned in and graded last week. Dh is working hard and I'm trying to catch up online and at home.

Here's what happened the first week...

My parent's visit started off a bit shakey. Mom ended up in the ER because of her health. Dad took a walk and we lost him for a short while. He wasn't lost. He remembered where he was and how to go, but he didn't tell anyone he was leaving the neighborhood. Grumpy found him out of the subdivision heading to a play ground. We quickly learned that we had to keep Dad occupied at all times. Anytime there wasn't something for him to do he got antsy. He enjoyed playing cards, going for walks, matching socks, etc.

Homeschooling was interesting as Dad wanted to participate. JJ taught him how to add carrying numbers and subtract by borrowing. He had forgotten all of that since his stroke.

JJ got a Birthday present from LisaB. He was so excited and kept saying thank you, thank you, thank you. She knows he loves buttons and was able to get him some Cars buttons out in CA! He loves the new baseball hat too. It's his new favorite hat and he's been wearing it everywhere.

The pin is a special pin from a tour!

There's been Buddy Ball the last couple weeks too.

We went to Sea World.

Epcot was another day

Did you know there was a parade inside the Land at the Sunshine Season food court? We didn't, but now we know. They marched around the food court. Then danced doing the chicken dance and the hokey pokey. At the very end, the kids all get a cookie.

happy the time with your parents was good inspite of the few issues!
so sweet JJ did math with your Dad :goodvibes looks like a fun times in all your photos!

thanks for sharing the photos of JJ with our gifts! he was so cute when we talked to him! can't wait to see you guys, we need to make some plans in the next couple weeks!

good luck getting caught up :thumbsup2

Joining in! I love all the SWW info - I've never been but would love to go some day.

One of the thoughts I had from the beginning was your comment that Gatorade has poor effects on your son. I've gotten away from Gatorade/Powerade/etc as I've been working to eliminate highly processed foodsm but as an athlete there are still times when I benefit from an electrolyte-based drink. I've been drinking coconut water (the ones that have an additional flavor like pineapple or mango are much tastier) and have been using Nunn tablets. Nunn tablets are a much milder taste than sports drinks, but don't have all the extra junk & chemicals. They might be an option for helping with replenishing minerals and electrolytes without triggering a reaction.

Great update. I've been pretty busy and out of touch with the DIS too. Sounds like you guys have a lot going on. Great pictures of the trips you made with your parents. I had no idea there was a parade at Sunshine Seasons either. It looks like fun! :)

All Stars does some fun things for the kids. Look at him dancing. :goodvibes

I'm taking Caison to Sea World this time. We're excited to have a mommy/son day to ourselves. We have a few plans already. Do they have something like the GAC over there?

Hey JJ...HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM ALL OF US!!!!!!! :darth::yoda::chewy:

I responded to all the posts yesterday and I don't see my response anywhere. Sorry. I'll try this again, this time individually.

Overall it was a nice time with them. :)

My dad caught on pretty quick how to carry and borrow numbers when adding and subtracting. He kept shaking his head how JJ got the right answer he got with the calculator, but when he tried to get that same answer without the calculator he couldn't. After a few practice problems, he got it down pat.

Thank you for sharing the gifts! He was so excited when he talked to you. I had him so confused about the buttons and number of them too. I try to call you Miss Lisa so he doesn't get you confused with Judy's Lisa, or it's Lisa with Megan. And if that doesn't work, it's the Lisa and Megan we went on the carriage ride with. That will be a forever wonderful memory for him. And it wasn't just the glow sticks. :thumbsup2

Definately need to make plans. Looks like the weekend of Dec 7, 8, 9 would suit us best. Are you still here those days?

:welcome::welcome:

I hope you get the opportunity to go to SWW someday. It's fun.

Yeah, Gatorade and Powerade are our last resorts with him. There's no doubt the electrolyte replacement helps, but there is a horrible side effect for him. The artificial coloring, flavoring and sugar send him into a "whirlwind of uncontrollability". He gets edgy, nervous, hyper, etc.

I hear good things about coconut water and hearing more and more people using it. I'll have to take a look at Nunn tablets. Thanks.

Thanks! I hope you have been busy in a good way. Are classes finished for the semester?

We were eating lunch when the cm asked JJ if he'd like to dance with them. He had a great time. The cm were so awesome. When he had trouble following along, they helped him along. It was done so sly that not many people noticed.

Hey JJ...HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM ALL OF US!!!!!!! :darth::yoda::chewy:

Thank you for the birthday wishes for JJ!

The dancing was at the Sunshine Season food court at the Land. Apparently they do this every day.

You and Caison will have a great time at Sea World! They do have something like a GAC. You go to Guest Services. Explain any accomodations you'll need. They enter it into the computer system. Print out a paper for you to show at the rides. The paper will not work for the shows. They recommend arriving 30 minutes early for the shows. The nice thing about Sea World and Universal's. Once it's in their computer it's in.

sorry about the button mix up, hope it didn't rattle him too much! that was a fun night on the carriage! as were all our times with you guys!

no we leave Friday the 6th, the ME will probably pick us up around 3pm for our flight... anything from 11/30 - 12/6 we can get together, 12/1 we are volunteering at GKTW until around one and then heading to DTD for lunch and shopping. haven't finished planning out our second week, other than 12/4 meeting up with KatMark in AK for a few hours!

I should have posted this much sooner. The other day, JJ got a package from Trevor!! This was a great dry erase board, eraser, "twirling" light saber, and a very sweet and artistic birthday wish. Thank you so much, Jackie!! It was nice talking to you again. Your plans are starting to come together. Can't wait to see pics of the reveal. JJ wishes he was there to share in the fun and the pizza and water melon.

JJ had a Disney themed birthday cake. It says it's Toy Story 3 cake, but there's no way of telling. It's a Buzz Lightyear and Woody cake (pull away cupcakes) from Publix Bakery.
