Come See Us Dance at MK-11/23!

Okay, we finally received our day and time for dancing at MK. We dance on Wednesday, November 23 at 1:00pm. We will be at the Galaxy Palace Theater. We would love for any DISers who will be at the MK that day to come see us! Our name is Magic in Motion and we are a competitive clog team. Both of my girls are dancers with the team. The entire program is only 25 minutes long, so it won't take too much out of your touring day. We hope to see you there!!

How exciting! Is there some type of holiday thing going on where there will be a bunch of dance teams at MK? My dd would love to watch.

I think there will be some kind of pre- parade thing on Sunday, November 21 that will have some dancers. However, it will be a large group type thing with one dance, I think. We were going to do the group dance but the cost was way too high. As far as I know, we will be the only group dancing at that particular time. If you have never seen "modern" clogging, I encourage you to join us. It is not the petticoat, ruffle skirt, old time country music that you may think of as clogging. This is a high energy, exciting, modern dance done to popular type music. We are a small team compared to some of the competition teams, but we are full of energy and have lots of fun performing.

We arrive the 23rd, but our flight doesn't land until 2:30 that afternoon. My cousin's little girl Regan Rainey goes all over doing clogging; she's won some competitions and stuff too! Sorry I'll miss her!

Do you have a picture of people clogging? I have an idea in my head of what you mean, but I'm not sure. I wish I were going then, but not. Good luck to the girls!!

I do have pictures, but not at work with me. The clogging shoe looks like a regular tap shoe. However, the taps are a two-part tap that make a loud jingly sound. It is much faster than tap and much louder. It is a dance that has ties to the Appalachians as well as Irish Folk Dance. We don't dance in crinolines, gingham skirts, etc. We don't hoedown although that is a part of clogging. It is a very fun dance but not too many people are familiar with it. We really hope to see everyone that can make it. My fear is that the Galaxy Palace Theater will be empty except for the dancers' families. It is pretty out of the way of traffic.

My daughters clogged competitively from the ages of 3 and 18 months until they were 12 and 13(then oldest became a middle school cheerleader). They were (NC) state duo champions at 10 and 12! I really miss the excitement(but not all the travel). As luck would have it, we will be at MK on the 23rd, so we'll definitely be there! I'm looking forward to seeing you there!
