Come on AP Rates!!!

Just had an interesting conversation online with CM. I don't usually do that, but I'm just so frustrated. He was very polite, but offered no real suggestions. I really do feel that being able to get offers before the gen public is an incentive to buy an AP. Now will we still go???? Don't know yet, we'll see. Anyway, just thought I'd share our conversation...read on....

you: Hi....just a question. Why are there new saving rates for the public, but nothing for passholders? It's really disappointing!
CM: Hello! The new offers were just added today for the general public. I would recommend booking now while you can find availability, as it changes by the minute. Then if an offer is released you can call our Disney Reservation Center at 407-560-CHAT (2428) to see if the special applies to your existing reservation and we'll happily modify it for you if it does and is available.
you: That's backwards, don't you think? It had always been an incentive to be a passholder to get a very good rate before the public.
you: Besides, I've checked & what I want isn't available already!
CM: I'm sorry, did you find any availability for your travel dates?
you: yes, but not where I want.
you: I was looking for Bay Lake, Beach Club, Boardwalk & the only thing available is Old Key West or Saratoga
CM: What dates are you looking for?
you: I checked 12/3-12/7
you: also checked 11/12-11/16
you: I was looking for a 2 br...there are 4 adults & 3 children
CM: The 2 bedroom villas are very popular. You may want to consider booking on of the resorts you found availability at. Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are both great resorts!
you: I've stayed at both & wanted to stay somewhere different. Please forward this "complaint". I don't know if an AP is worth it anymore if the "extras" are going away! Now the general public can get the 40% off villas before the passholders!! That's just not right!
CM: I'm sorry you feel that way. I will forward it on.
CM: Thank you for contacting Disney!
you: wouldn't you?
you: I've had an AP for years & visit Disney 3/4 times a year. I know you're probably rolling your eyes, but it's good to get out my frustration.
CM: Again, I am sorry you feel that way. I will forward it on.
you: please do. I & many others wait for the passholder rates & now there won't be anything available. Guess we won't be coming this December for the first time in at least 5 years. Have a good night.

Sometimes they (the sales people they have answering questions-because they really don't answer questions or provide help-they are just looking for you to buy the most they can sell. (the answers also remind me of a 'stepford wife' manner)

Yes, I know. Like I said, I usually don't talk with them. I wasn't really expected a REAL answer. I hope I expressed my disappointment accurately. It was just good to get it out! I hope he will forward the comments. Who knows if he will. :confused3

Yes, hopefully he will. I would assume that they really have to. They probably have a place to send that type of comment. I would hope that they would have a procedure to do so. I think WDW does want to know issues that customers/potential customers have with policy/procedure. I wish the AP rates would be put out there as they used to be-even just a few days before the GP. Also the 2 day or more ticket requirements kind of make me not interested at all with those offers. In past years, we did do FD and a $500 free giftcard PIN that only required a 1 day ticket plus FD and the giftcard were able to be booked at a Value as well. I think those days are over.

I really liked it back in the 1980s through early 2000 when you could buy a ticket say a 5 day pass, use it and keep it. If you returned within the year of first use, WDW used to let you upgrade the ticket to an AP (you had the start date from the day of first use) for the cost difference between what you paid and the AP (always much cheaper to upgrade than buy a new 5 day! Kind of made an AP in an installment plan plus if for some reason, you couldn't get back before a year, no AP cost!

Yes, just 2 days prior to the GP would be appreciated. The way the CM talked, there "might" be AP rates. But what would they be??? I doubt that they'd be more than the 40% for villas. And as of now the only ones for the dates I requested would be OKW & SSR. They are nice resorts, but we would like something different. I know.....I'll stop complaining.

Wow....a 2 day pass is required!!! I didn't even read the offers & didn't know that! We also bought the 1 day pass as you stated, but a 2day???? no, not interested! :sad2:

PrincessAlways, I too took my frustrations to the computer. I priced out discount rates until I got a survey, and I let them know WHY I did not book anything. I actually am in a good stead except for 1-day tickets that I don't need. I wanted the dining plan but not if I had to buy the tickets, too. I am on a BB from last fall. I have just decided to not worry anymore about the AP discounts and just use my TiW on my trip. I hope that the AP discount does finally come out for the rest of you, but I am letting the chips fall where they might and let my TA make the final call.:wizard:

Yes, in fact all the WDW package offers this year required multiday pass purchase the 4/7 offer required a 4 day pass purchase and the free giftcard earlier this year required a 5 day!! Even with the AP discounts this Feb, our WL Woodsview room was never avail for our week with the AP 45 % off. We did have a PIN for 40% off but with 2 rooms we really would have either liked the AP 5% addl off or even just a standard room (neither offer had that and I checked daily!)

big thumbs down the the lack of AP rates before GP....as we have chatted, AP rates etc. seem to have gone down like the freebies at the food and wine festival over the years....ahh.....gone are the days of the free beer tasting at the rose and crown....

the fact is, dis will get less $$ from us with AP's (2 AD/1CH) with a ressi at AKL than FD at AS Sports with my relatives....WITH MYW tix...10 day NExp added....had AP rates come out we would have upped but NOW on a matter of principle, we are not going to do AP's.

...good for you...as i can glean...i get the sense dis wants to fill the restaurants...thus, FD might do this for them...and get more money at the end of the day...
:confused3

I'm not sure that it's the fact that they want to fill the restaurants so much as they want to fill the resorts. The fact that they seem to be increasing the number of days for ticket requirements means that they want to increase revenue for park entrance. It's "double-dipping" on the AP holders ticket payments by requiring them to pay for more unnecessary tickets.

I did the same thing. I priced trips out using all three of the current discounts and when the survey popped up at the end, asking why I didn't book, I told them that as an AP holder I felt the current discounts did not work for us and that it looked like I'd be taking my business to Universal where AP holders are more appreciated.

So tomorrow must be the day for AP discount to come out? Right? :worship:
Please

For those that that cannot logon to the passholder site.... Nothing today

Thanks for checking the site - I renewed so can't log in yet.

I called to confirm though and nope - not today:sad2:

Disney is the only place I know that, in this economy, is not showering their most loyal and frequent customers with perks and love.:confused3

I would be interested to know what the AP rates are. I'm getting an AP with my GAD/GAD pass so I can't log into the site, but would be able to book a room with the AP rate. Could someone post the discounts here please, please please. Thanks!!

What a joke!! The rooms that are only showing available are the same rooms that show up for rack rate and GP. Thanks alot, Disney.
:sad1:
