Come on AP Rates!!!

I'm so surprised that passholder site still has the old expired deal listed. I would have thought they would have removed it by now. :confused3 :)

I booked AKL for January this morning using the 25% off GP code, just in case I can't get it later with an AP discount. I really wasn't looking forward to waiting until possibly November to book the hotel, so I just decided to take the 25% off for now. ;) Hopefully I'll be able to rebook with a better AP discount later, but if not, I get to try a hotel that at least isn't in the Epcot resort area. After 6 stays there, I'm glad I was finally able to talk my husband into some place different! :thumbsup2

Hi! I've been following the AP watch, hoping for December discount. Was hoping they might offer them today as well. :)

I should know this . . . but for some reason I can't find it. How many rooms can I book with an AP? I know it used to be more than one, but for some reason, I think it changed. Can somebody help me with that?

Thanks!

This is kind of weird b/c people have had different responses to trying to book more than one room on an AP. I myself have had success booking 2 rooms on an AP discount (only 1 AP among the people) last Sept. They did it somehow by linking my reservation to the other one. So, last Sept it could be done.

Why do you think an AP holder should get a jump on the general public? Do you think your AP entitles you to a jump? Sure you do you stated it above (see bold).

We also have the TIW card. I prefer it to the DDP. Only AP holders can get this not the GP.

Wdwfan, kindly take this conversation to another thread - I'm sure a lot of posters would be interested to discussing this further with you.

But this thread is about the AP rates *see thread title* so let's try to stay on subject.

I had a nice long response to this, but in the spirit of NOT turning it into a debate as a PP nicely requested, I will not post it.

Thank you! :flower3: I just don't want to see this thread going somewhere else you know? A lot of people (myself included) are still waiting and hoping for those AP rates & the input on this thread to that end is very helpful.

As far as I know, now it's one room per adult AP. It used to be 3 per but the past year or so it's one. You can call to be sure, but that was what we were told.

It seems like different people get different feedback about this. It may depend on the CM.

So, I might have to hang up and call back if I can't book two. I did just send an email to WDW from their site with this question. I'll let you all know what they say. I haven't had to book more than one room in the past several years, so I sort of lost track.

And, TIW is great! That's one of the main reasons we get an AP (the other being possible room discounts). The dining discount is huge -- it really pays for itself many times over.

Thanks!!!

Yes, TIW more than paid for itself in Feb. We had 6 for most of the trip and ate at a TS most days. I kept track of the savings over all and it was about $240. Not only do you save the 20% but the sales tax on it as well.

I can't wait to do TiW this trip. That is why I think we will forego the free dining. We are staying in CSR for 3 nights but in DVC in AKV the last 6 so I could only do free dining for part of our trip. Plus our eating routine never seems to fall into the alloted number of meals/snacks etc. I figure the TiW will easily pay for itself on our first trip and our February trip will save a lot!

yes, for us it just works out better. We did do FD at the Values when reg. dining was given plus only a 1 day pass had to be purchased. It really was pretty good with the values, but now with the 2 day plus no TS at the Values and HOW we eat (no desserts, really don't want the drinks and we also can visit the signature places with the 2 TS usage) Just works out better for us Have fun!

We also do a lot of signature and character meals so I know TiW will be great! but I'll shush so we can keep watching for AP discount rates, haha :thumbsup2

Well, at this point we're keeping our FD package (AKL, standard room)...we're hoping for AP rates to be released at a later time. It just didn't make sense to upgrade to a more expensive room just to get the discount. If the end result of all this is that we have 2-day MYW tickets, I guess we'll deal with it at that time.

Does anyone else think that this is the "weaning" period that Iger spoke of? Why would "weaning" AP holders do any good to the company? I think that I have lost hope, especially, with the erratic discount percentages that were released in this round. I don't think that I will be getting another WDW or DL AP unless we live within 1 hour of the park and plan to go weekly or monthly.

I think passholder rates will still come out. I don't know why they didn't come out earlier, but they didn't. Also, I think it's still possible that they could have held a block of rooms for passholders which they've done in the past. Hopefully, there will be a release in a day or two, although I don't know that the percentage will be much higher than the GP discounts.

i think they will come out too...
i am by nature an optimist...so thinking they won't just seems nuts to me!

I know about the rates being the last to be released lately. Anyway, we were lucky to get the 35 % bounceback rate for the week after THanksgiving (why we upgraded to AP, we wouldn't have without some type of guaranteed room discount since lately they are the last to be released) Now the GP although 5% lower on Mods. included November 27 - ours started the 28, so we will do something else! We would have started ours from the 27 so in that respect WDW lost us for one night. I know I can book 1 night but I don't want the bother of maybe having to change rooms plus we will have to check and and is even if we don't! keep looking for the rates though since the GP is released until Feb! ours didn't even pass Oct 2!

One thing about the AP rates is that they usually don't have a book by date, you can book through the entire offer.

and from what I had read about AP discounts in the past, it appears the early year (Jan - March) AP discounts are usually released between Oct 15 - Nov 1. So I am going to book with the public deal and then switch over when the AP discounts come out, whenever that is.

I gave up waiting and have booked a 1 bedroom boardwalk villa using the room only discount :)

I have an existing ressie that I need to modify so I think I have to do it on the phone don't I?

If you already have a room at a resort, check the online system first to see if that resort room is listed as a GP discount room. If so, make a new reservation, and then call back tomorrow or Wednesday to cancel your previous reservation. You will then need to have them re-enter all your requests (if you had any) into your new reservation.

Good Luck:)

Thanks. We are new to the whole AP deal, so forgive my ignorance! When you say you have an "AP room", is that just a regular rate and you tell them you have an AP and you want to add dining?

I honestly don't know what rate I have but i'd assume right now it's rack rate+ddp. All I know is there are no tixs and I couldn't do better at aaa office. my conf says passholder+dine.

looks like you & i are on the lookout for the same type of discount at the same resort around the same dates!
fingers crossed!!

Just had an interesting conversation online with CM. I don't usually do that, but I'm just so frustrated. He was very polite, but offered no real suggestions. I really do feel that being able to get offers before the gen public is an incentive to buy an AP. Now will we still go???? Don't know yet, we'll see. Anyway, just thought I'd share our conversation...read on....

you: Hi....just a question. Why are there new saving rates for the public, but nothing for passholders? It's really disappointing!
CM: Hello! The new offers were just added today for the general public. I would recommend booking now while you can find availability, as it changes by the minute. Then if an offer is released you can call our Disney Reservation Center at 407-560-CHAT (2428) to see if the special applies to your existing reservation and we'll happily modify it for you if it does and is available.
you: That's backwards, don't you think? It had always been an incentive to be a passholder to get a very good rate before the public.
you: Besides, I've checked & what I want isn't available already!
CM: I'm sorry, did you find any availability for your travel dates?
you: yes, but not where I want.
you: I was looking for Bay Lake, Beach Club, Boardwalk & the only thing available is Old Key West or Saratoga
CM: What dates are you looking for?
you: I checked 12/3-12/7
you: also checked 11/12-11/16
you: I was looking for a 2 br...there are 4 adults & 3 children
CM: The 2 bedroom villas are very popular. You may want to consider booking on of the resorts you found availability at. Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are both great resorts!
you: I've stayed at both & wanted to stay somewhere different. Please forward this "complaint". I don't know if an AP is worth it anymore if the "extras" are going away! Now the general public can get the 40% off villas before the passholders!! That's just not right!
CM: I'm sorry you feel that way. I will forward it on.
CM: Thank you for contacting Disney!
you: wouldn't you?
you: I've had an AP for years & visit Disney 3/4 times a year. I know you're probably rolling your eyes, but it's good to get out my frustration.
CM: Again, I am sorry you feel that way. I will forward it on.
you: please do. I & many others wait for the passholder rates & now there won't be anything available. Guess we won't be coming this December for the first time in at least 5 years. Have a good night.
