OK. So here's the deal without getting too long (I'm known to do this), I would like to start a weight lose support group here. Please let me know if there is a thread already started like this and I'll go there instead.
I hope we can share stories and ideas without getting too personal.
Here's my story. 10 years ago I became certified through AFAA...taught several years and was main income . I ended up teaching a lot by the time I filled in for others as well. I went on a low carb, high protein diet and trained very hard. Almost entered a fitness competition.
But then I decided to work my brain harder than my body and went back to college to complete my degree. Glad I did and I still taught some classes but not as many ( I took 19 hours one of the semesters , plus worked part-time and taught classes part-time and still held my family together). After finishing school, I went to work full time but realized my schedule was just too tough for my family. Anyhow, I am now working at home. I was teaching classes but had an injury. Needless to say , I have gained weight!!! I would like to lose at least 20 pounds.
Here's my stats: I am 5'6 1/2" and I weight 156. I am in a size 8 to 10.
My goals??? Well, I have two goals: short term and long term. Short term is to lose 10 pounds by spring break (April 6th) and get a little more lean. Long term is to lose 20 to 25 pounds and be much leaner. I refuse to do the no carb and high protein again so it won't be that way. But, I have purchased a treadmill, I get Fit TV on our cable and I enjoy mixing up my workouts from running, power walking, mountain climbing (on treadmill), kickboxing, step (ad love advanced step routines), boot camp, weight training, etc. I am trying to eat healthier but I must admit sweets and Mexican food are my weaknesses!!
Here's what I 've done so far this week... Treadmill M, T and W.... 45 min. to 1 hour... about 15 minutes of weights each day, a little ab work. Today so far I did a routine on Fit TV for 35 minutes but I will probably walk a little also later. For breakfast I had yogurt (Activa) with fresh walnuts, coffee and one bite of my daughter's steak biscuit. (OK... I had about 4 M & M's awhile ago as well. I hope I can do well the rest of the day and rest of the week!!!
I tried for this not to get long but some things are just impossible.
One last thing...just like I always told my students when I was in excellent shape, I am by all means not a doctor. , and so my ideas or the things I do of course may not be for everyone ...it is just what I do. When I say I do/did something is not meaning I am recommending it. I just thought this would be a great board to offer support!
Does anyone want to get on board with me?????
