Actually, Obama is not for gay marriage. I believe he is for civil unions up to the states to decide. Unfortunately, many many many states will oppose both gay marriage and civil unions. I don't see a HUGE amount of change in gay rights under Obama's administration.

I, for one, am not surprised he won. Its part of a cycle that's been happening. Back during the end of Clinton's administration, people wanted change. like they did now during this election. The democrats were in power, so people changed over to supporting Bush, a republican. Bush has messed up and people are wanting change, so they elected a new, young democrat.
It is very likely, that at the end of the next 8 years, people will be wanting change again. It's all a cycle.

even though I didn't support him, I shall support him in whatever he does. he's our president, and he deserves support.

i was raised in a single parent home where my mom worked her butt off just so that i could have the nice things that the more wealthy children that went to my school got on a daily basis.

so if you think for one second that people that are not "better off" as you so put it dont work hard for their money, you are sourly mistaken. perhaps you should take a journey in someone elses shoes before you decide to talk like you know what obama is speaking about.

there are other people out there, darling that are perhaps not as well off as you and your family are. maybe if you knew that or knew someone like that, you wouldn't have stated what you so childishly wrote. perhaps a large dose of a reality pill may do you some good before you decide to blast an entire class of people on the internet.

As a British girl looking in I am hopeful that Obama will do a great job. He's a very charismatic and personality wise seems like a great guy (I couldn't believe it when I found out he was 47 the other day he looks so much younger )
As for the actual job I'm not that qualified to judge but I have high hopes.

A lot of people seem to really like him at the moment whether this will be true at the end of his term - everybody loved Blair when he was fist elected in 1997, fast forward to 2007 and he was so hated he resigned!

As for the above debate I see no problems with higher tax for those earning more - true there are always people who are just lazy and benefit cheats/scroungers but to every one of them heres at least another 10 who are doing their damn hardest to make ends meet but struggling!!

And $250, 000 I consider that RICH - they're positively rolling in it I doubt these people have a great many wants. I know we can't do any direct comparisons since it's to different countries, but thats £158,000 - I'd consider a wage of over £60,000 rich let alone £158000
I've just googled the US average income and it's $50,000 which is around the same as ours £30,000, so I think I'm making a fair comparison to lifestyle living over here. And $250,000 is rich and I doubt these people would miss the money they lose a great deal.

if you're making 250k a year, youre sitting behind a desk.

if youre making 20-30k a year, you're working in a store, you're working in a factory, you're teaching a class, you're on your feet, you're busy.

the founding Fathers weren't "Christians" They did, however, believe in a God.

A simple glance at the Declaration of Independence shows that every single person who signed it believed in a single God.

It states many times that there is one God, one creator and he is the Supreme judge. When every person signed the Declaration, they agreed with what it said. they agreed with it.They put their trust in God to help them accomplish what they believed to be the will of God....

And some simple searching brings up quotes by many of the Founding Fathers which state that they believe in a single God.


And with the above argument, I dont agree with taxing the wealthy and giving it to the poor. Most (not all) people who make their money work for it. Rich or Poor.
Just because the rich make more money for their work, doesnt mean it should be taken.
Yes, it may be similar to Robin Hood, but it's still stealing. This isnt the solution. There must be better ones out there.
