Ok, lets say you have two 1-day 1-park tickets. Would you be able to trade that in for one 2-day park hopper?

Yep just take them to the WDTC office in DTD and they will put the cost of the 1 day 1 park tickets toward the 2 day parkhopper. I'm not sure the regular ticket office could do this but WDTC definitely can when we upgraded our parkhoppers they said any park ticket can be changed or upgraded as long as it hasn't been used yet and is a valid ticket (ie you can't use one of the tickets then trade both of them in).

You should be able to, but I have a feeling that this is one of those situations where it depends on which CM you get at the ticket booth. I was told by a couple of different CM's that the Disneyland Bank "views unused tickets as money" and therefore, there should be no reason you cannot trade them in for tickets of different levels. And then on another trip, a different CM told me, "Well, we're not really supposed to do that..." and then she checked with her supervisor and did it for me anyway.

I've had two separate occasions in which I did a "swap" like that (not an upgrade, but a swap), which is what it was called when I did it.

The first time, what I did was take a few 1-day/1-park tickets (they have to all be unused) and swapped them for one Premium AP, and I paid the difference in cash after the value of the 3 tickets was deducted. The CM initially tried to tell me I was not allowed to do that, even though I had checked and checked repeatedly beforehand to be sure I could. Turns out he assumed my 3 tickets were USED, so he automatically was trying to get rid of me. When I told him they were all UNUSED, it was a different story and I was allowed to do it!

Then, the second time I did a swap, I had 6 unused 1-day/1-park tickets and I swapped them for 3 one-day Park Hoppers. And the CM gave me a gift card for $123:cool1:, which was the balance left after the value of all 6 tickets was applied to the price of the three 1-day Hoppers.

So my advice would be that - even though DLR is supposed to view unused tickets as money and should be able to apply multiple unused tickets towards one ticket or AP, double check beforehand - call DLR, have them check with the Bank to be sure they still have the same policy, get the names of CM's who tell you it can be done so you can use their names when you get to the ticket window and a different CM tries to tell you it's not allowed, etc.!:rotfl2:

I think a lot of CM's in the past have not been aware that such a thing was allowed so they assumed it was not.

It's been 2 years since I did my last swap, and DLR may very well have changed their policy by now. Maybe they no longer accept that kind of trade-off at all. But call beforehand - a couple of times - and see what they say.

ETA: I went straight to the regular ticket booths both times - not the WDTC office. They all have to have the same approval or denial, so it's all the same - it's just that some CM's may know more than others.
