Combining Reservations While Website is Down, Keeping Busy

Right now, while the whole site is down, the system decided to combine reservations for my September trip. I don't want this because it will screw up my waitlists. And now I can't even get on chat to get it fixed. Why are they combining this far out EVER. And now they're going to fill my waitlist right in the middle of the new combined reservation, and mess everything up, I just know it.
 
You just have the worst luck because I have never ever had things merged without my asking for it to be done.

It’s for the same reason that you do…I need to waitlist only some and not all of the nights. They should not be touching an owners account without authorization.

They will just have to put it back!

At one time in the past, the system would do this automatically. Then it seems they changed it. It wouldn't surprise me if they decided to do it again - someone probably noticed MS gets a lot of phone call/chat requests to combine reservations and decided the system could take this load off of MS.

In the future, I plan to book the reservations I don't want combined with different guests - maybe I'll add a few "extra guests" that I can easily delete later.

P.S. Consider making a complaint to Member Satisfaction if you haven't already. I wish more members would send feedback to MS about system issues. With any luck at all, it might make a difference. In my pre-retirement (non-Disney) experience, upper management positions had part of their bonuses dependent on 'service complaints'.
 

I’m sorry that happened to you. Hopefully it gets corrected asap without any problems.
 
This happened for our reservation also. Had a 2 day reservation end of November after thanksgiving & put in a waitlist for Monday night.

In June the waitlist came thru and had a separate reservation number, I thought I’d just keep it that way till we decide if we really wanted all 3 nights there.

Then a few days later I got a cancel email and panicked. Looked & saw they actually combined the 3 days together to 1 resv themselves.

Not too much of a big deal really, but I was surprised they did it.

Yeah especially this far out. Maybe you were still confirming flight days, workdays off, or some other reason to keep that night separate.

Would having a different lead guest be enough?
