Has anyone flown out of here? What is the airport like and are there any good places to park for 2 weeks? How about a nearby motel to stay for the night?

CMH is somewhat smaller than Hopkins. It's an easy airport to use. There are many motels in the area with a number of them on the drive that goes to the airports. We stayed at a Cross COuntry Inn there once that was fine. I'd bet there are a dozen motels within a mile of the airport. I know there are long term parking lots in the airport and surrounding area but we've never used them. We have family that live near the airport.

There is a Holiday Inn, not far. I know they have a lot for long term parking. I've stayed there but cannot remember the road name. I know my MIL has kept her car parked there during trips. Some hotels have a 7-8 night limit, and charge after that. Others are 14 days. Just check around. Try parksleepfly.com. I'm not sure if that is the site name or not, but you could google it. We booked thru them when we flew out of Indianapolis last year, and it worked out really, really, well.

The airport is fairly small, and easy to navigate. We most often fly from Columbus. I have parked at the airport long term lot for 8 days without paying a fortune. It is the first lot you come to once actually on airport property. The entrance is on the right. There is usually a shuttle circling as you park. They will usually come right up to your car, and wait for you to unload. I had one driver help get my bags from the trunk. Ther are also plenty of pick up spots.

Good luck, and have a great trip.

There is a red parking lot for $5 a day and a blue lot for $6 a day. There is a coupon on their web site where you can get the blue lot which is closer for $5 a day. I think there is a maximum charge for parking but can't find this information on their site. There is a Hampton Inn, Cross Country Inn, Hilton, and Comfort Suites right on the same road as the long term lots. I am not sure about the policy for any of the hotel parking lots. We always park in the blue lot and a shuttle comes and picks you up and the driver has always been very good with helping with the luggage. Here's a link to parking info:

Thanks so much.

I booked our flights last night. We will most likely stay at the Comfort Suites the night before and use the long term parking.

This will be our 1st time flying out of another airport besides Hopkins from home.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites on Corporate exchange, $65 a night on Hotwire. (North Columbus, 3 1/2 star Suite, breakfast, pool (indoor)) They provided free transport and we were able to leave the car parked for 2 weeks. Don't know iff this helps!

I have always used Sunpark for long term parking. They are right at the entrance of the airport. If you are flying in the winter they even have a valet service for a couple of more dollars where they will warm up your car for you.

Great info on the Embassy Suites! I'll have to check them out if we can find decent airfare for this summer.

I have stayed at the Concourse hotel and it is very nice hotel. We paid $69 which was the entertainment card rate back in 2003. We also stayed at the Comfort Inn about 7 years ago. It was ok to stay at for one night. They have a shuttle that will take you to the airport as does the Concourse.
We are in NE Ohio and have flown out of Columbus a several times because it was much cheaper than Hopkins. The Columbus airport is very easy to get to. There is a McDonalds within walking distance from the Comfort Inn.

They are *almost* always listed on hotwire. They have tons of parking, and didn't blink an eye when we parked for the two weeks. All it cost was tips to the transport person! I couldn't have found a cheaper alternative, and the guys were well fed before we headed out!

We will be flying out of Columbus on May 14 and I went on priceline and got the Marriot hotel for 46 and they will keep our car for up to 14 days at no charge and shuttle us to and from airport. It worked real well for us since we have a 6:00am flight out on the 14th. Enjoy your trip
