Columbus Day Week Crowds?

Hello !

I'm planning our trip for this October and I originally planned for the end of Oct, but now a friend and her daughter are going with us and she can't miss work during the end of the month.

So, how are the crowds during the week of Columbus Day . I always try to avoid holidays if possible, but I wanted to see if it was really crowded or not before I set the final dates.

Which week is better: the week before Columbus day or the week after Columbus day??

I'd appreciate any help from anyone who has traveled during these dates.

Well, I'm sorry that I can't give you the info you requested, as it's been 9 years since we went over Columbus Day week, but I would like to to mention that I read somewhere that the Food & Wine Festival will be starting on October 1st this year. Anyone out there who was at the first week of F & W Festival in the past care to comment on how that affected the crowds? TIA!!

We were there in 2002 for Columbus Day and it was not bad at all. I really planned and did the best days/best park thing and we really had a good time w/ no long waits. The other good thing is that you can go the the MNSSHP which, we LOVED! And the weatehr is great!
