Riding the waves through hurricane Hillary was sooooo much fun. Wish we could have had more rough seas. Call me crazy!
Sure.

I had a cabin all the way forward and absolutely could not stay in there that day. I passed the day up on deck 9 midship with seabands and meclazine. Being outside helped. The pools were fun to watch though. My camera has a continuous shoot setting that takes 2 frames per second until the memory fills up, and I could get about 18 frames. I had fun capturing images of the drama. Talk about a wave pool!! By midday the pools were still closed, but the kids stood at either end of the goofy pool and giggled hysterically whenever the waves from the pool drenched them.
I enjoyed our snorkeling excursion in Manzanillo. Even though the water was much murkier than the Caribbean, the fish and coral were pretty. This was DD10s first real snorkeling experience, and she kept surfacing to tell me this is really neat, I really like this! We shopped briefly shortly before all-aboard, but didnt really have much time to look around. We didnt realize the free shuttle ended an hour before all-aboard, and had to catch a taxi back. I would have felt more comfortable if I had done some research beforehand, but who knew?
Our rafting excursion in Acapulco was one of the highlights of our trip! The scenery was spectacular and the rafting was a riot! However when we tried to cross the street to visit the fort, there were dozens of people trying to be our guide or sell us trinkets, and just would not take no for an answer. There was a congregation of them just before the bridge across the street, and we didnt even try to go past them, just turned around and went back to the terminal to shop.
The Panama canal transit was spectacular! It was what I booked this cruise for, and I was all over the ship, forward, aft, port, starboard on decks 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10. I took lots of time lapse pictures of the Magic and other ships being raised and lowered in the locks, of the gates opening and closing, of the geology, of the people that turned out to watch us pass through, of the brown ****ies flying by (Captain Tom will be a long time living that down), of the jungle and Gatun Lake. No time for the pools on this day! I did take time out to have some of the yummy shrimp and salmon kabobs though.
Curacao was one of my favorite stops. Willemstad is a quaint and colorful town, the people were very friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed our sail and snorkel on the Bounty with Captain Perry!
Castaway Cay started out with lightning and light rain, causing our parasailing and DHs kayak excursions to be cancelled, so we rented snorkel equipment instead and set out to find Captain Mickey. Along the way we saw several barracudas, about 2-3 feet long! We saw lots of pretty fish. Captain Mickey was in a very shallow area (we also found the ships wheel, quite some distance from him) with plant debris that when stirred up made it impossible to get a good picture of him. We checked out the stingray area, and they appeared to be very curious about us; when I stepped in the water, they came over to check me out. I got several good pictures of them. The banana boats were lots of fun!
This cruise was a wonderful experience! I dont know if I can go back to a 7-day
.we rebooked onboard and are hoping that the 2007 itineraries will include the 10- and 11-day southern Caribbean ports.
