Is anyone from St. Augustine who can tell me about Colony Reef Club? We are staying in St. Augustine for a week before we head to Disney because my kids want to go to the beach. I'm having a hard time finding a place that sleeps 7 without putting a child on an air mattress. So if you're from the area and have suggestions for accommdations let me know.

Also, can you reccommend free and inexpensive things to do in the area. The alligator farm is expensive unless I buy a family annual pass and that's still $90.00. I just don't want the kids to be bored. Any infor will be welcomed! Thanks. :goodvibes

I can't help you with the Colony Reef Club. But I've been to St. Augustine before. Here is some suggestions.

Alligator Farm is OK. Depends on the age groups. Here in Jacksonville, we have a great Zoo. It's only like 45 mins away. And it's about 10 bucks cheaper. So if you have a rental car, that might be better.

St. Georges St. is great. It's the oldest street in the U.S. They have performers out sometime, little shops, and a few good restaurants. May I suggest PizzaNallys. Best pizza I have ever had. They have a upscale joint in the back, and a little sit down one in the front.

Whetstone Chocolate Factory tour. You see how it's made. Then they give you free samples.

Depending on the ages, a Ghost Tour might be fun. If you find one the ones on St. Georges St it's pretty cheap. To me they aren't to scary, but more fun.

If you have an older one to watch the kids. They have a Winery tour, and Pub Crawls

The Family Fun Factory is pretty cool.

Adventure Landing is also fun.

If you don't have a car, they have a trolley that goes to all the major sites there. I forgot the price of it though. I know once you get the band, it's an all day thing.

Hope I helped a bit.

Hi! Yes, I have stayed at the Colony Reef a number of years ago. My family vacationed every summer in St. Augustine. It has grown ALOT over the years. Colony Reef club is a larger condo facility but we always had fun. See if you can request one close to the beach though because, if I remember right, it is spread out.

I highly recommend checking out Crescent Beach as that is less busy and a little more laid back. It is about 20 minutes south of Colony Reef. The name of the place we stay escapes me, but I will post it when I look it up.

There is a place called The Oasis (restaurant) down from Colony Reef. It looks kinda like a "run-down" place but we have always gone! It's a tradition.

There is a great deal of history in St. Augustine. I am not sure of the ages of your children but we always toured the Fort, shopped downtown, and there is also a Ripley's Believe It or NOt. My mother greatly disliked it, but us kids LOVED it.

I ate a place called Fiddler's Green about 15 years ago and it was delicious and overlooking the water. Not sure if it is still there or what, but you might check that out as well. Also across from the Colony Reef is a place on the marsh that is also a tradition called Salt Water Cowboys! Neat atmosphere but make ressies or get there early as it gets very crowded!

Oh, and don't forget about the Outlets! Jacksonville is not a bad drive at all, so I would second the zoo.

Hope that helps. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I am lived grew up in central florida and we spent a lot of time at St Augustine beach!
