College

I've done the online class thing twice. Once with english and once with math. The english went fine (just write essays and put them in the drop box) but the math was the most painful experience of my life. I'm actually not too bad at math, but the online program (my math lab) was terrible. I thought I was going to die. It would mark my answer wrong if I wrote "5" instead of "5.0" for the answer to be 5 :scared1:

I didn't take math online, but we still did ALL of our work on My Math Lab. I agree, I hated it, but my teacher was so horrible and we did everything online anyways, that I totally wasted my time by going to class when I just did everything in my room anyways.

I ended up dropping the math class. I took another one at my college that I physically attended, versus the online class. My professor didn't use any online components and it was great.

Which sorority did you join?

Gamma Sigma Sigma. It's a National Service Sorority (not really social) but we do social things as well. There is a national requirement for service hours each semester that you as an individual need to complete and as a chapter.

I never left school :lmao:
I decided to take summer classes this year (Florida requires at least 9 credit hours of summer) so I wanted to get that over with. I was working all summer anyway and the classes I took were fairly easy.

I go to the University of Central Florida majoring in Hospitality Management & a specialization in theme parks. Classes for the summer end on August 5 for me. I start classes in the fall on August 23. I only have classes Monday-Wednesday, but I also have two jobs and a sorority to function around. It's going to be a crazy year, but I am excited :)

For those worried about money, don't worry to much. The spring of my senior year I had weekly panic attacks worrying about how I would pay for college, & I had to take out a loan my freshmen year. Then I was able to work out two jobs (I became an RA which pays for MOST of my housing, & another part time job that pays for books), I still have scholarships etc. So although I do owe money, the experience of being at college is completely worth it. Do what you can within your budget and it will all fall into place.

Community College is not a bad idea either. I know a lot of people who went to a community college their first two years and got all their gen ed's out of the way, and transferred to a university. Gen Ed classes are generally easier at Community college anyways, so you will get a better GPA in the end.

I want to do the same thing! How do you like UCF? How are your professors? Im really excited because im visiting the campus in November!

Oh, that's awesome! We have one of those on my campus, Alpha Phi Omega. I'm not a member of that one though. I'm in Alpha Delta Pi, which is a social sorority.

Yep those are our "brothers" (it is coed though) that helped get us started nationally. We have Alpha Delta Pi here as well, I know a few people who are in it. The girl who won Miss UCF was a sister :)

I love being at UCF but I believe its partially because of my major. If you are interested in Hospitality definitely tour the Rosen campus as well as the main campus. Its 40 minutes away from the main campus, but right off of I-Drive. The professors at Rosen are phenomenal. I have only had one iffy professor in my major, and it was a 7am class so I might be bias. The professors I had for Gen Ed were decent, but I have heard some bad reviews on other professors, I really lucked out. Basically UCF is known for Engineering & Hospitality. The dorms are all really nice as well (no community bathrooms, and ac in every building). If you have any more questions feel free to pm about it.

I still have 2 years until college and I can't wait.
I really want to go to college in southern California. In June I went to visit UCLA and USC.
And then this year I really have to kick butt at school as it'll be my Junior year. I hope these two years go by quickly.

A Phi O is pretty cool. I'm close friends with a couple of them.

What's your major?

I'm an Elementary Education (k-8) major haha. Plus I'm debating on adding secondary math education as well....hmm.

Oh, college. I'll be an HS senior this year, but I've got everything figured out. I just need to fill out my apps.

I'm also Elem Ed, but I have a co-concentration in English.

THat's good you have everything figured out. When I went into my senior year, I had no idea what I wanted to do, or what colleges I wanted to look at. I was a mess..lol

I consider myself fortunate. I'm just terrified that I might not get accepted to my top. I plan on applying ED, so maybe my chances of not making it are slim.

I'm sure you'll be fine! As long as your grades are good and you're active in school, you'll be in for sure.

Hey ya'll!

So when does everyone (who is in college or going to be a freshman this fall) move in?

I'm starting to pack now and I'm loosing my mind. bah.

I'm already moved in but early move in here is August 14 and regular move in is a week from then. School starts on the 23, & I am not sure how I feel about that :confused3

I'm moving in August 24, possibly a day early.
I'm moving in early to help out with Freshman Orientation. Classes don't start until Aug 31st though.
Tomorrow I'm gonna go through my stack of school stuff and organize it and throw some stuff out. I'm excited, it means school is getting close! lol
