College program.

I would never do it

I dont care about the magic being ruined but I just dont see it helping out getting a job in the future. Disney is all great for a vacation but I couldnt see myself working there. I want to get into sports marketing or journalism so working at disney wouldnt help me too much

But thats just me

Not so fast... I want to be like you and get into sports marketing or sports journalism. But, the Disney Program is actually great for getting into a future career. My World History teacher did the program and told me that basically when any company sees you completed the program, you're automatically looked upon much higher than other candidates. From what I've heard, since I know two people who've done it, it's a very strict program that requires a ton of hardwork. There's no drinking, drugs, ect. allowed and if you're caught once, you're out. It'd be a great thing to put down on a resume. Plus, if you go to school in Florida, it'd be easy to get an intership with a local newspaper as you're just miles from downtown Orlando.

I agree with you.
There's definitely all of that.
Plus, you're still going to school, so it's ont like it's taking away from your college experience, but adding to it.
Working, no matter where gives you experience. It shows dedication, hard work, and responsibility. Disney, I think gives you more of that, simply because you're dealing with literally thousands of people a day, that aren't always gonna be little rays of sunshines.
Besides, Disney looks after it's employees. You work at Disney World, you can pretty much get a job in any other park in the world.. and the cruise ships. And I mean int he cruise ships, you do kind of have the ability to work your way up.

The discounts sound sawesome too :)

That would suck.. I'd hate watching so many people go in to enjoy a day at King's Island while I'm stuck taking tickets. Although, there's tons of hot chicks that go there, so that wouldn't be too bad. Slip a number into the car when dad's not looking, hahahahahha.

And I forgot they built a new rollercoaster. Should be interesting, but nothing beats the Beast.

Well, there isn't a whole lot I can do at Kings Island...I hate rollercoasters and it seems like they are trying to turn into the next Cedar Point now that Cedar Fair owns them. The new rollercoaster is a monster.

Haha...there might be hot girls there  but there are also big REDNECKS! Sitting there with their cigarettes hanging out of their mouths while they get their money for parking then I have to breathe it in. :sad2: Oh well...I get a free season pass to any Cedar Fair park out of it.

One time I had to have security come and get these gangster guys away from me at turnstiles. I usually get asked for my number out at the parking tolls though by all the freaking hillbillies.:rotfl:

Hahaha, I've seen plenty of the type your talking about. My favorite's when the eight year old cheerleading squads come in and you see the eight year olds with their redneck moms running around complaining about everything. Always get a giggle out of that.

And it's Cincinnati, what do you expect? We're filled with BA gangstas.

im sorry. but everyone thinks the college program is so wonderful, and the minute you go for 6 months to a year, suddenly all your future career dreams come true! not, really. the most succesful college program students are the ones that actually continue to come back year after year.

the college program kids i know, are miserable. they hate it. it sounded all fun and magical and the greatest job ever, but they work 6 days a week and give back about 75% of their money to disney because of housing. that is also the reason why wdw is only hiring cp and icp, because they give their money back to them. they dont ever want to come back to work for them ever again.

their miserable, and half the time theyve never been to disney before, and frankly couldnt give a crap less about walt's legacy and how you are supposed to be a cast member. i dont know if thats what its like for dl, but for wdw, its horrible.

Welcome to the real world.

....ive had to pay my own rent for almost 2 years now. i know what the real world is.

i was speaking about the fact that wdw is only hiring cp and icp because they arent losing money.

Not true. The college program was the best choice i ever made in life.

Sure...The worst part is working 5 days a week with lacking social life, but get used to it because thats the real world.

These 'college kids' didnt like the program because they are...college kids! all they want to do is party. Sure i miss all of that after high school, but its time to start a life and a career.

I guess I forgot to put [insert sarcasm here] on my post.

And do you really think that Disney would run a program where they weren't making money? And yes, there's only one answer.

yes, but you see, its not fair that wdw is only hiring cp based on the the fact that they want money.

and no, they dont like it. its only once in a blue moon when i met a cp person that actually enjoyed being a part of disney. everyone else just didnt understand, and frankly hated being there. they treated each other like crap, the guests terribly, and were always doing absolultely nothing. im talking from personal experience, so im not saying ALL of them are like that. im not trying to step on toes here, just trying to explain why i dont like it.

im not saying disneyland is the same as wdw. frankly, when i went to disneyland they had the better characters and cast members. but the way wdw is handling it right now is glorified cheap labor to me.

and down to it, its not so much the actual cp's and icp's. its more of the people running the show.

:lmao: :rotfl: OMG the cheerleaders! In their clown makeup and corkscrew hair...:lmao:

It depends on if I get a good enough scholarship right now for me...if I dont I will probably do the Career Start one. I do not believe it will ruin the magic, it just starts new magic like finding the joy of helping people and it will be in my favorite place ever.

Yes and No.

I know how everything works at Disney now and i dont see Disneyland as the same place as i used to. but i still love the place as much as i did when i started.

go for it, you'll enjoy it

no, i won't be doing it. i think i'll get a better semester out of being at school than i will being in disney.

I wouldn't say the cp kids are ruining disney. Why are non-cp workers so much better?

I'm wary to work there because for me, work = no fun & disney = fun. So it would kind of change my perspective of it. Disney is where I go to escape the real world and be a kid again, work is exactly what the real world is.

Plus I might be really reallllly jealous of all the guests.
