Hi all :)

I want to (am dreaming/wishing/hoping/planning!!) to do the College Program... And so is my husband! We have 2 small dogs and don't think living in their housing complexes would work, haha. I'm wondering - has anyone ever done the CP and not lived in the provided housing? Thank you so much!! The program is something we both so want to do - any help/info you have would be great! Thank you!!

When you're accepted you will have to supply a certified copy (not photo copy) of your marriage license and that will grant you approval to live off site.

I moved off site two months into my program. I must admit, living on site was better overall, but I too wanted to live with my husband :).

Thank you sooo very much for the information! I'm sure that living on site would be amazing - but my dogs would not want to go stay with other family while we were away, lol. Can you recommend a good area to live in?? Thanks again :)

College Program - not in housing complex?

1) Living off-site is tough for a married couple if both are in CP.
2) That is a pretty low income level.
3) One of them needs to have a higher paying job somewhere else.
4) The budget will certainly be very tight.
5) There are certainly decent lower-rent apartments.
6) But, they are hard to find, as folks hold onto them.

EDIT: I know of several married couples who work at WDW who live in subsidized housing because they can't make it on their WDW pay. Remember, full-time hours are only a minimum of 30-hrs per week, and the CP paygrade is the lowest at WDW. With this being said, you definitely can make it through with a little budgeting and extra shifts. Best of luck, and have fun.

Hi Maggie,
I just rented a condo at Legacy Dunes for my PI. It's the best rent I could find and also seems to be a nice community. It's also only 10-15 mins from the park.
I don't have any idea how many bedrooms etc you want, but here's a listing for a 2/2. http://www.realtyandcompanysearch.com/homes/9464054/FL/Kissimmee/8905-Legacy-Ct-34747/ If that doesn't work out for you, you can always call the office (407 787-0134) and ask for the number of a realtor that can show you available long term rentals.
Good Luck!

Thanks so much for the info! I do know things will be tight - but what we do have going for us is my husband used to be a Marine, and is using the post 9/11 GI Bill which gives up extra money each month... Between that and savings, and our house here getting rented I have my fingers crossed that all will go well! Thanks again SO much!! :)
