Collecting Fastpasses?

You'd think based on the number of trips I'd have figured out FP but no, not exactly. We usually grab some for Soarin', gripe that they don't have them for TSMM, and that's about it. Not many of the FP rides are rides that we love.

In any event, can someone tell me the timing of FPs? I know you can hold FPs for both parks at the same time, but is there a set time between getting FPs in the same park? I know it shows the time when you are next able to get a FP, but is that a consistent time (i.e., you always have to wait 2 hours between FPs), or does it vary?

It is 2 hours our the beginning of your return time, whichever comes first. If you are trying to get them for the same ride, if is the return time.

It is usually the time the FastPass window opens or 2 hours, whichever is less.
So if you get a FastPass at 9:00am and the window is for 9:45-10:45am, you can get your next pass at 9:45am or 45 minutes later. However if at 2:00pm the window is for 6:05-7:05pm, you can get your next FastPass at 4:00pm or 2 hours later.

Of course, rarely Disney plays with the system and the rules don't apply which is why it is always good to read the time next FastPass is available on the ticket.

Unless you want another FP for the same ride, then you have to wait until 6:05.

How many can you collect? If DL is open at 8AM and you start at 8AM, you can collect FPs up through at least 10PM - not sure when they stop giving them out. If it is 10PM for the last FP, then that is 14 hours worth of FPs. Divide that by a FP every 45 minutes. That is 18-19 FPs. For DL.

And that does not count Roger Rabbit which is disconnected from the DL network. But Toontown is not open all day - does not open til 9AM when DL opens at 8AM. And closes early. So maybe 12 FPs for RR?

If you hop to DCA in between each FP at DL and get a FP every 45 minutes too and they are open 10AM to 11PM, and assume they stop giving FPs at 9PM, that is 11 hours, so 14-15 FPs at DCA. The DL and DCA FP network are not connected.

Add all that together and one person could get 45+ FPs in each day. They would not have any time to use all the FPs, but they could get 45. Give or take a few.

We have gotten as many as 12 in a day hopping back and forth between DL and DCA.

Yes. You can use it until the end of the day. And as long as we are on the subject, we found out from a CM on our last trip, rider swaps DO NOT!

You sure can!. The CM's pay no attention to the window, just the first time you can use them.

We are familiar with rider swap at WDW, but have never used it at DL. Do DL rider swaps have have a return time? Are you not able to use the rider swap pass at any other time that same day?

Example: Last Saturday we arrived at 8am and got:

Space at 8am
BTMRR at 8:45am
Splash at 9:20am
Roger at 10:10am (disconnected)
Autopia at 10:30am
Buzz at 11:20am

Then we had lunch, used the FP and left for the day!

No. The CMs give you a card that is specific for the ride. On it, it says to return that day (good for 2 people), but we were told and experienced they could be used the following day. If you collect both FPs and Rider swaps, use the FPs first!

HG, you made me laugh out loud! I am just betting that SOMEONE has wasted an entire day at DL and DCA just trying to see how many FPs they can collect.

I believe we had 3 FP for DL by 11am or so (Space Mtn, BTMR, Indy) then grabbed one for Soarin' on our way to lunch. Realistically, that was about all we could gather without one of us having to separate from the others too often.

We used them all that night, and the only one that got us funny looks was when we used our 8:45am Space Mtn FP at 10:30pm. We felt so proud!!

Thank you! I am so glad they don't expire! I've been to DL many times and I didn't know that. Infact I didn't know a whole lot about fp, but I am learning alot about them from Hydroguys helpful link.
