Colin Powell - Why Hasn't He Resigned?

I am not a fan of GWB or Dick Cheney (putting it mildly) but I do have a lot of respect for Colin Powell and believe he is an honest, moral and upstanding man; something I do not believe GWB or the VP are. However, in light of some of the facts that have come out in the past 6 months, I am surprised that if he really is "on the outside looking in" and is being "kept out of the loop", why hasn't he resigned from his post as a form of protest or out of disgust about the way the administration is running?

I can't figure this one out. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Maybe he actually has more information than the general public and supports what the administration is doing based on that information.

Lanshark,
That was my initial belief when we went into Iraq last year but based on the information that has come to light over the last several months, it seems like he has been kept out of the loop. I don't know, it just seems odd to me that he is not in GWB's inner circle and yet stays in his position.:confused3

I too have a great respect for Powell. Perhaps he feels he can do more good by staying. Without Powell who would be left to voice any opinon at all that differs from the Cheney/Rumsfeld crowd? Maybe he believes he still has enough influence to at least offer a less extremist point of view.

He does seem to have become the front man for explaining away the factual mistakes this administration has a habit of making. Then again, if it weren't for him, maybe we'd never know about some of them at all.

Whatever his reasons, I'm glad he's hanging in there. He seems to be the only rational voice left in this administration.
