I need to get a cake for a co-workers birthday. I am so sick of cakes from WEGMANS (local food store). We have had pies, doughnuts, cheesecakes etc for birthday treats and I was thinking of getting and ice cream cake. We have a Coldstone Creamery here but I have never had a cake from there. The cookies and cream cake looks FANTASTIC. Has anyone had this cake? What did you think? I could go the Abbotts, Friendly or Carvel route but this looks different and yummy. Anyone........

Sorry - I've not had one.

Can I come to the party if you get this? It looks WONDERFUL!

OMG how many calories is in that yummy looking concoction. Excuse me, Weight Watchers here. That looks absolutely wonderful! Everything I've ever had from CSC was awesome, even the yogurt!

we're from the Rochester area too and I love Wegmans cakes but we do have it a lot too so we usually get friendly's ice cream cakes for birthdays and events in the summer, they're really good. They don't have too many designs to choose from to put on the top though and they only have the one type (1 chocolate layer, 1 vanilla layer seperated by a layer of cookie crumbs). We usually go to the one on Spencerport Rd. and have been happy with our cakes

Yum! That's all I can say. I might just have to get one of those for DD's graduation party. I especially liked the raspberry chocolate one. Wonder how expensive they are?

They are so good. I got the Winnie the Pooh one for DS's 1st birthay last year. It was amazing BUT the green frosting literally dyed everyone mouths green LOL o just keep that in mind. :rotfl: I think it was about $30.00

We ordered a Cold Stone Creamery cake for a party we had recently, and it was DIVINE!! Everyone asked us where we got it. The flavor we got was called "A Cheesecake Called Desire" which was described as cake layered with cheesecake ice cream, rasberry sauce and frosted with a whipped rasberry icing. We swapped the the rasberry icing for chocolate ganche.

My one caution would be to underestimate the amount of cake you need. The cake is incredibly rich, so a little goes a long way!

I guess I am the opd one out on this thread so far: I have had Coldstone Cakes previously, and I didn't care for them. They were good, but I prefer Dairy Queen ice cream cales

I have a couponw for $3.00 off of the cake. I think I will try it. I will let you all know how well it goes over. We are celebrating the party on Wednesday!! Thanks again!

I got a small one for DH's birthday this year at CS, for $30. He didn't like it and he loves ice cream cake. He likes Dairy Queen or another one that I get in the grocery store Carvel better. He didn't like the actual cake that they put in the Cold Stone one. Where DQ and Carvel just have the ice cream and fudge/crunchies.

They have good mixes if you just want an ice cream with the fixings, and they have a luscious one made with Splenda for me!

We also didn't like the Coldstone cakes. No surprise for me as I really don't like their ice cream. But DH really likes it and he really wanted a cake for his birthday. It did look very good, but it wasn't. It was difficult to serve and the cake itself was very dry. I agree with the other poster that the DQ cakes are much better as far as ice cream cakes go.

I love Cold Stone Ice Cream, and I love ice cream cakes. So I got a Cold Stone Ice Cream Cake for my Birthday - and I hated it. The problem was it had real cake inside, which was a heavy, cold, dry block. It was like eating cardboard surrounded by ice cream. I'll be getting DQ from now on.

We had one and it was decadent. A little pricey, but you only needed a small slice.

I like cold stone cakes, the one I had didn't have real cake inside..it was a baskin robbins one that I had that had real cake inside...it is gross! Frozen cake surrounded by ice cream, I didn't care for it at all....Cold Stone cakes are just very expensive and I hoenstly don't think they are worth the amount of money they charge for htem!

We ordered one for MIL some time ago. DH and I are huge Coldstone Creamery fans. I lived on Coldstone Creamery icecream when I was a swm camp in Arizona and muuuuch younger. It was one of the only things I would eat becuase I was so homecick. They had to get calories into me somehow and that was the somehow. As much as I love thier icecream, I wasn't that impresed with their cakes. For whatever reason, it just didn't do the trick for us. We like the Dairy Queen icecream cakes a lot better.
