Cold beer, July heat

Add me to the list of monorail-hoppers! We love to do a little tour around Mizners (second floor of GF), Trader Sam's/Tambu Lounge (by Ohana), and Outer Rim (tucked away by Chef Mickey's) are all great. I'm not a beer drinker but they should all have a nice selection. Also great to get some apps at the Poly for a bit of a more substantial break! I avoid the Counter Service locations though I prefer the laid-back atmosphere of the lounges.
monorail hopping huh? might have to give that a try. sounds like it could be fun.

It is fun, but just for the record--drinking alcohol and getting out in the hot sun is a recipe to feel like pooh: I'd suggest going for the bevvies and a little nap back at the room until the temps drop a bit.:earsboy:

Hop on the resort monorail and get off at the Contemporary. Take the Escalator to the 4th floor concourse, following signs for Chef Mickey. On your left just before you get there, you will see the Outer Rim Lounge. My man Ray will set you up with a nice, cold brew there at the bar. :drinking1
Don't take the monorail. Just walk. It's shorter

1. Don't forget the pool bars either. They have cold beer and sometimes it is actually cheaper than in the lounge.
2. I am a big beer drinker as is my doctor. He prescribes me a prescription of one 16 oz bottle of water for every three beers. I order a Dasani and a glass of ice with my first beer and stick to his prescription on hot days. It manages two things, helping stay hydrated and keeping me from drinking too much too early. I actually do it golfing now as well. Once used to following that, I actually have been doing it when it isn't hot as well. I call it a Dasani Delay Drunk Day!

I think I'll ask my Doc if "Dasani Delay Drunk Day" is right for me!:earboy2:

The pool bar suggestion from a PP was great. We usually do that, with my favorite being at the Poly (love me some Kona brews, man). For the lounges, Mizner's was where I had my first adult drink at Disney, so it's got a pretty special place in my heart. I love the atmosphere of it, too, though. It just feels so relaxed and calm because it's sequestered from the rest of the area. Outer Rim has a decent selection, but I felt like I was just sitting in the middle of the resort lobby having a beer because it's so open. It felt almost like an airport bar. Top of the World is my all-time favorite, but unless you're DVC/staying on points, you won't be able to get in.
