I've never heard of this (it'd be great if they'd make the HFCS-free stuff all the time!). Maybe they only do it in certain parts of the country?

Oooh! I need to look for that! I loooove soda.

We've cut down our HFCS intake by at least 50% in the past month. I'm phasing out a lot of our regular stuff and buying new stuff with no HFCS. So far, I haven't had a "dud" item - everything has been wonderful! We love our new bread, yogurt, meat marinades, granola bars, cereal, etc. I'm still trying to find an affordable ketchup that is equivalent to Heinz. Might have to go with Heinz Organic, but it's soo expensive.

Okay, I feel totally out of the loop. I haven't heard anything about this. Can someone enlighten me?

Ooo, thanks for posting this! Last year, I could only find it at one store, so this year, I've been checking about every week to 10 days and nothing as of last week. Looks like I'd better to check today...and then I can stop by the really yummy Mexican place on the way home!

So they only do this for a limited time? With so many people trying to cut HFCS out of their diets wouldn't it be smart for them to make this available to everyone everywhere?

Thanks for the tip OP, I didn't know they did this. Does it taste the same?

I don't know if they carry it all over. On Passover observant Jews eliminate corn products from their diets. The products are put out at this time of year due to the holiday.

I guess it is probably more expensive for Coke to manufacture the soda without the HFCS.

I always pick up a bottle or two to have on hand.

Just so you know.. at least in the west, Costco carries coca-cola (coke) from Mexico, where it is made with cane Sugar and not HFCS. It is sold in glass bottles. It is expensive, but when you have a "jones" for a coke it really does hit the spot. I have written to Coke on Coke.com on why they don't it in the US and they indicated that it is up to each bottler on which formula they would use. I guess most would choose the cheaper formula, which would include HFCS.

I have not seen the yellow capped coke bottles. Is this something only sold during passover time?

I actually have found at our local grocery store (Giant) and my local mini mart Coke that has sucrose in it, not HFCS. I can totally taste the difference (I think it tastes so much better). It's the 20 oz. bottles. I don't generally buy those since they are so expensive but when I need a Coke, that's where I try to go.

Pepsi is making it with sugar again as well. I don't think it was for passover but rather for their anniversary.

That stuff tastes gross, IMO. Just be warned.

Cool, more for me!!! I will admit, the first time I tried the Mexican coke, it tasted funny to me - but I was still drinking the HFCS coke at that time. Once I quit the HFCS, the Mexican coke tasted a lot better. By the time I got the Kosher coke last year, I'd been off HFCS for a few months, so it tasted fabulous!

I've been finding Mexican cokes at my local Target, of all places. But at $1.29 per 12 oz bottle, I'm keeping my eye out for the 2 liter bottles of Kosher coke.

I ran down to the Ralph's this morning where I found it last year, but nothing yet. I did ask and they said they do usually get it every year, but the manager also pointed out that they are not necessarily getting all the things they used to get (as in, less product due to economy) and he also said who gets the kosher coke really depends on the vendor. Hmmm, maybe I should start keeping an eye out for Coca Cola trucks and follow them to the store?

I had no clue that the yellow caps meant no high fructose corn syrup.

Well, sometimes different colored caps just mean a promotion. ALWAYS read the labels.

For anyone weirded out by the taste, that's the way it *used to taste*. I have a friend who is a coke collector, and he checked his old cans for me. BEFORE the New Coke fiasco, the cans showed sugar on the label. Then New Coke came out, and once their marketing people said it was time and they released "classic" coke, the "classic" coke was sweetened with HFCS.

The taste is so much different. I can't "chug" sugar-sweetened soda, I savor it. The bottles at Costco are smaller than a can, but it takes at least an hour, and usually was shared (back when hubby could have soda, or rather, thought he could have it). The taste is just incredible. The junk they sell for the mainstream is just bleah, compared to the taste of the old stuff.

I always thought the the "classic coke" tasted different than the "original coke". I never did believe that they went back to their original recipe.

If you have a whole foods, they have their own brand of soda that always is hfcs free. It's really good too. It's been awhile since I bought it but it comes in cans and used to be less then a buck a can but I'm sure that's changed some.

Do they have HFCS free coke at Costco?

Wow, you really do learn something new everyday. I never knew that Coke had a HFCS free version at all.

Might have to go with Heinz Organic, but it's soo expensive.

I have been buying it in a two pack at BJ's wholesale club, it is 2-44 oz bottles. The price is okay, much cheaper than the smaller bottles I was getting at Walmart and Publix. I think they average out to $3 and some change.

I am a big fan of the Whole Foods colas, they don't taste just like Coke, but I like them better and DS6 hasn't really noticed a difference (DH however prefers Coke or Pepsi:confused3 ).
