Coincidence....maybe...maybe not...not really sure?

I have been reading about all the different types of discount codes that have been posted on these boards (by the way, missed the 40%).

I began thinking - what would I do if I were Disney? To whom would I send the specials codes and why?

I registered on the Disney site and requested only to be emailed the Walt Disney World Resort special offers. While registering, I also selected that I had been on 30+ trips to Disney – one of which was in 2006..

I came to this conclusion. Why would I send someone a special discount code that currently has a reservation in the system, to someone who has been to Disney in 2006, and has been to Disney 30+ trips? I wouldn't, because I pretty much know that the person is loyal and will travel to Disney with or without a discount. I would send the email to guests that have not visited frequently, to guests that have not visited recently, and to guests who do not currently have a reservation in the system.

So I went back into my profile and backed my trip visit count down to "1", selected "receive all emails including 3rd party", changed my last year visited from 2006 - to something like 1999, and coincidently cancelled my trip in order to rebook using Travelocity for the Poly for a better discount. After a couple of weeks I started receiving a new special resort discount offer virtually every other week - too bad that I didn't want the specific offers. But I feel that if I would have made the changes to my profile back in the fall, I would have probably received the 40% discount.

Coincidence....maybe...maybe not...not really sure?

Just curious...can you be more specific about what kind offers you received?

TIA!

Interesting. Many companies try to woo in new customers, then they realize oops, I'm making my regular (really good) customers upset, better start making offers to them too or I'll lose them! So most good companies realize pretty quickly, you have to make offers to your best customers to continue to keep them happy, as well as make offers to attract new business. :goodvibes

Ugh - if only I were not afraid to cancel my ressies. I am still hoping for some early Dec. discount.

I am also registered to receive email, last trip in 2006, and had a current reservation in the system ... an much to my surprise, got the 40% deal! :confused3
