I've had a KitchenAid coffee maker for about 3 years. Today, the carafe broke. They no longer make a replacement. I've even checked on Ebay.

So, can any one recommend a good, programmable coffee maker that won't break the bank?

Thanks!

We have the Brewstation

We love it because there is NO CARAFE! I got so tired of carafes that cracked and/or dripped, this one is a dream. It has the timer feature so you can program it for the morning and the auto-off feature after two hours. Plus, because there is no carafe, you don't get the "old burnt coffee" taste after a while.

It lists at $49.95 at Target but I have seen it for $35 at Walmart and less at Sams so check around.

So, what does it do? Brew the coffee and keep it inside an interior chamber, then dispense it into a cup? If so, I find that very appealing.

I have a Cuisinart and I have to admit, I bought it for looks. It was stainless and looked good next to my fridge.

NOT Black & Decker. They suck.

We bought one and it broke within a year or so. Being gluttons for punishment we bought another one. It also broke in less than 2 years. First the ring around the heating plate cracked, but it still worked. Then one day the water wouldn't draw up into the filter basket. We unplugged it, jiggled things, poked things, it was completely dead. Piece of junk. :furious:

Now we have a Mr. Coffee but it isn't very old so I don't know if I recommend it! It is sort of loud when it turns on to begin brewing, so that might be bad.

I have a West Bend coffee maker that I bought about 18 years ago for $10. You can't program it, but it still works! It is our "back up" for when the main coffee maker breaks!

I love my percolator (faberware) it doesn't take up much room. I always take the grounds out right after percolating. :)

I'm a Starbucks whole bean snob so we have a combo grinder/brewer by Cuisinart.

I love Krups.......and also Braun.........both are my favorites

I'm a whole bean snob too but vastly prefer Allegro (Whole Foods) coffee. I have a Cuisinart combo in New Orleans and a Capresso combo in Arkansas. The Capresso has a burr grinder which is better, but it cost more.

I have the brewstation and LOVE IT!!!!

Bunn......coffee in 3 minutes....you'll love it

We are on our 2nd Bunn. The first one only lasted 11 years. :thumbsup2

DH really wants to get one with a carafe next time around. Another Bunn, of course, probably: Bunn Coffee Maker with carafe

I have a Starbucks programmable coffee maker. I love it. I've had it for about three years (I don't think they make my particular model anymore.) It is easy to use and has a very sleek design. It matched my kitchen and I got it on sale.

I agree that Black and Decker is worthless. I had two grinders from B&D in less than a year and they were worthless pieces of junk. I now have a Cuisinart grinder.

The Brewstation looks very interesting! No carafe...I might have to keep that one in mind.

Yes, it brews into the chamber and dispenses like a soda machine. Neat and tidy, easy to clean and no drips. The only thing to be careful about is getting grounds in the chamber. They can block the stopper and cause the coffee to leak. That being said, in three years, this has happened to me only once or twice.
