How is the coffee on the Magic? I was pregnant last time I sailed on DCL, so wasn't drinking coffee, but my family may leave me at a port if I don't get a couple of good cups of java in the morning. :hyper: The coffee is good at WDW resort restaurants, but not so good at WDW itself, so I'm a bit concerned, beng the coffee snob that I am.

Don't drink it myself, but everyone has posted how crappy it is. I think the correct wording was horrible. So sorry.

I am really particular about my coffee. I don't drink a lot but what I do drink I want to be good, especially that first cup in the morning. They serve Nescafe on the ship both at the drink station and in the restaurants (I'm not sure about Palos). We did a galley tour and saw the Nescafe machines. Last year for Christmas I was given a 2 for the Road coffeemaker by Cuisinart. The coffee brews directly into two thermal mugs. For our past two cruises, I have used it for myself, my husband, my sister and brother-in-law. I usually buy a pound of either Green Mountain or Starbucks and bring it on board along with a couple pints of 1/2 and 1/2. I have a travel bag dedicated as the coffee bag.

How about the Quiet Cove coffee bar on the Magic? I assume you have to pay for coffee there, but is it any better for you coffee drinkers?

Cove Cafe is one of the best little "hide-aways" on the ship... It is a GREAT place to relax, have a coffee or tea, read a book, ejoy conversation or check your email... Lourdes (thats her name, pronounced "LOR-dess") is typically there in the evenings and she is delightful... the teas are outstanding, I HIGHLY recommend her Vanilla Chai Tea Latte, and the "African Nectar." Camomille and Mint make a great combo for an evening unwind... For coffee she can make anything STRABUCKS can, plus she has the Liguor options as well! Its really great... I am usually there at some point every day of my cruises... There is even a large plasma HDTV there usually with CNN on it for the news junkies, as well as a good selections of books and magazines...

Ah, the pain of Nescafe!

I have a personal coffee maker (brews one cup in a thermal mug); it, along with a half pound of good coffee, may be making the trip with me!

Thanks!

I am hardly a coffee connoisseur, neither is my wife. But we like our coffee to at least be decent. We have always like the coffee either from the drink station or any of the restaurants. We’re very much looking forward to trying out Cove Café!

The night before you order a carafe of coffee from room service.

You must, and I stress must, order the Silver Carafe!

The Silver Carafe will keep the coffee hot for your morning cuppa!

I survived using this method! So did the rest of the ship!LOL You do not want to have to deal with me unless I get my two cups in first!

The only drink I especially remember from the Cove was a mint mocha....it was almost too pretty to drink!!

It was served in a tall clear mug, like an irish coffee, and was actully layered....beautiful!! When you stirred it up, it was gray....but it was very good. I think the cost was about $5 though.....a little steep for me, especially since it wasn't very much. Good, but not what I really wanted a lot of.

My mil was NOT impressed with the Kona Cafe's coffee at the Poly, said the coffee was good on the ship, but I truly question her coffee tastes. In fact, she took a couple sips, pushed it away, and looked VERY accusingly at me and asked if that's what the coffee on the cruise was gonna be like. I think she was thinking of a run to Walmart on the way to the port! :moped:

Keith only complained about the after dinner coffee at late seating, and he likes plain ole dark roast, hot coffee. Probably the only time in recent history that he's had coffee after noon.

Kelli--the tea drinker of the family!

I'm really surprised to read the above posts. I, too, love my coffee and would not be able to function without that first cup. And as a night nurse I sample lots of different coffees since staff and patient families bring in different types for us to try. At home I normally drink fresh ground Eight O'Clock, never really liked dark roast. (In fact I am drinking some now in my Y&BC mug, lol).

What I wouldn't give to be on Deck 4 right now doing my morning walk with a cup of their awesome coffee!!! Seriously, DH and I love the coffee served at the Deck 9 beverage station. I wasn't as crazy about the coffee in the restaraunts, perhaps because it tasted more like dark roast to me?? I am one of the crazies who actually enjoys being up before dawn on the ship, taking in the serenity and quiet before the rush of the day. I always saw plenty of others sitting near the coffee dispenser also enjoying the brew. I assumed everyone liked it as much as I did!! But maybe we're just the diehards who would drink anything!! :boat:

My DW is the coffee drinker and said the coffee left something to be desired. She loves her coffee and drank it because she had to. She then found the Cove Cafe and made regular visits the rest of the cruise. That seems the place to go for a good cup. It does cost extra though, but your on vacation... who cares.
