OK ,first let me tell you I am cheap and I love my coffee directly out of bed. I have my mother in law and my sister in my party who are both coffee drinkers. We have a grocery stop planned at walmart when we arrrive next week. My question being, would it be cost effective to purchase a cheap coffee maker or should we just pony up the $ each morning for coffee. We are staying at pop, any input would be great. Also do they have hairdryer in room. My wife has to blow dry hair everymorning.

The coffee at Disney is not great (unless you are staying at the Polynesian where you can get Kona). They use Nescafe or something similar. Hubby and I have a grocery stop too and he will purchase a small coffee maker and his own coffee for him to brew in our room at Pop.

I think you have to do the Disney Math and look at your local Walmart to price out coffee makers & cost of coffee, then price out how much you'll spent buying your coffee in the food court.

We buy the refillable resort mugs when we arrive, and I get my A.M. coffee, then use it when we get back to the resort for ice tea, lemonade, hot tea, hot choc depending on season. We also go back for mid day breaks, and will pick up a drink then too. So, I'll refill 3x a day.

I have to have coffee to open my eyes in the morning- or speak. Or even sit upright.

I am a really light packer and never ever bring anything extra along with me on vacation. However, I am bringing coffee this time around because in general, Disney coffee is ick and the food courts are frequently far away.

I am lucky that I'm staying at CSR and there is a little coffee maker in the room. Otherwise, I would be tempted to buy a machine myself.

I think the cheaper option would be to try the coffee at Pop first, and if it does the trick, bribe someone in your party to go down and get coffee every morning first thing. :rotfl:

OP: I know exactly how you feel about your morning coffee. And having to wait until you're fully dressed and have walked all the way to the food court and waited in line is just no way to be on vacation!! Plus, Disney coffee really sucks.

We stay at mods, usually, so already have a coffee maker in the room. But I bring my own coffee with me. And filters. Don't forget the filters.

If you're driving, then bring all your coffee supplies with you, including the coffee maker. You wouldn't be the first to do this. If you're flying, then by all means, go to Walmart and pick up a cheap coffee maker, along with the coffee, filters, milk and sugar. Then you will all be set for the rest of the week. The cost, divided amongst all the coffee drinkers, plus the convenience, should be doable.

They sell a personal coffee maker at Wal-Mart for $15 that gets good reviews. I would order that online and have it shipped to the store for your trip. Split between three people, I think it makes good sense financially.

If you plan to bring your own beans from home, be sure to seal them in several bags. The coffee smell tends to permeate everything in your suitcase. Even sealed, I don't know if it would be a guarantee, so actually, it might be best to purchase your beans during your stop, as well.

Or look for a swap at your hotel. I know there's at least one Pop Century fridge swap that also has a coffeemaker.

I got a one cup coffee maker at our local Walmart for about $13 and since it has a permanent filter don't have to worry about that. A full size one was about $15 so either way it is not a big purchase. The smaller one will fit in a suitcase but don't forget to bring some kind of mug to go with it. In your case you will need several mugs. Maybe that (the mug) could be something you get as a souvenir and use it while you are there. We bring out own coffee also.

maybe you could pack a small perculator ( faberware ) and bring your own coffee

We also bring our own coffee, and maker. This year since we drove we brought our Tassimo and it was the best thing we ever did!! I had coffee immediately and within seconds. We also use bottled water when making coffee in florida, that makes a big difference, since the water can affect the taste of the coffee.
I say splurge on good coffee, you are on vacation, you do not want to go through every day with that horrible stuff they try to pass off as coffee there. Now mind you Kona does make a good coffee so if you are in the area and desperate hop on the monorail before you hit MK and grab a cup!

Off to make my morning cup now, lol!!

We always bring our own coffee/maker with us. I have even put a small one in my checked-luggage when staying at POP. Addicted....right! I buy the Maxwell House (that's our brand at home) filter packs. When we drive we take the full-size maker. Since they now have the 1 cup machines (don't like them myself) at most of the resorts I guess we will continue to bring our own machine. Also take the little I.D. individual flavored creamers too.
Be sure and take mugs with you at POP since they don't have them in the rooms.

Yes, we stay at the mods or deluxe which have the coffee makers in the rooms too. I make coffee in the room, then on the way out I stop in at the food court and refill my resort mug for a cup to go, no lines.

There is also good coffee at some of the parks too! AK has one or 2 places for good coffee, I like the coffee cart in DHS by the exit of TOT, Epcot WS has decent coffee, and of course Poly has the morning coffee kiosk upstairs, as well as in the restaurant, Kona Cafe.
Does anyone know if they have a coffee place in MK?

In Jan we're staying at WL, and they have switched to the Cusinart Pod coffee maker, so I'm looking forward to that. Hope they switched coffee too :goodvibes

If you are at all particular about your coffee, I'd second the idea of getting the cheap coffeemaker and coffee, especially if you're at a value resort (no in-room coffeemaker) and already doing a grocery stop.

Not only is the standard Disney coffee the most-mass-market of Nescafe, it's the syrup-based coffee that comes out of a machine. It's "coffee-flavored sludge" not actual coffee...with non-dairy creamer rather than actual cream or milk.

There's also a good list of "real coffee" locations here:

We fly and I don't want to pack a coffee maker and all the fixins...we're at POR (arriving Saturday, yippee) and I cannot stand the "coffee" at the food court so this year I'm bringing the Starbucks Via and I will mix with hot water from the the food court. We will have the pot in the room to get me started and then I'll use my refillable mug. While the Via is still instant it's a far sight better than the "coffee" at the food court.

Does the Boardwalk have coffee makers in the room? If so, are they four-cup or more? Thanks (Bringing my Dunkin Donuts coffee with me!) :)

I hope you realize that those coffeemakers are often used to heat up Wieners, make oatmeal or noodles in the pot, wash your string or bleach an undie whit stains. :lmao:
In case of sickness you can vomit or pee in the same coffee pot.

Thanks Budget board. I will never ever use a coffee maker in a hotel again. :rotfl2:

All part of our decision to pack a Keurig Mini, along with a supply of k-cups.

All Moderate & Deluxe resorts in WDW have coffee makers. Hard to know what BWI has, Disney is in the process of changing the 4 cup coffee makers at the deluxe resorts to the Cusinart Pod coffee makers. You may want to go on the Boardwalk thread for more info.
