Coffee Pod help

So I'm heading to POFQ in a few weeks. I don't know much about coffee pods so I'm hoping to get some help here. I have read the threads and it seems the coffee pods that come with the coffee makers in the room are not very strong and the coffee served in the food courts is pretty bad.

I am hoping to get some recommendations. I like my coffee strong. Forget 7-11 or Royal Farm coffee...too weak for me. I like McDonalds or Starbucks so I'm hoping there's a brand out there strong enough.

Also, since I'm clueless on coffee pods, can someone explain how many cups one coffee pod serve? Trying to figure out how many to buy. There are two of us and between us, we will probably want 1-2 cups EACH in the morning before heading to the parks.

I like my coffee strong also, but I thought the coffee pods provided were pretty good.
I did buy some extras to take next month--Melitta brand in a dark roast. Each pod will
make one cup.

Can you buy the pods locally? I myself don't know anything about them. I have a Keurig at home. Have I just never paid them any attention because I only but Kcups?

I know you can buy them on amazon.

I'm not a stickler for STRONG, starkbucks coffee, just not the cheap, watered down variety and definitely not the nescafe they serve in the food court.

Would most say the coffee pods in the rooms are pretty good?

So the coffee pots in the room don't use regular coffee? Do I have to bring coffee in a particular style of packaging in order to make coffee in our room at POR? I am familiar with K-cups, will they work? Or do I have to bring something that specifically says coffee pod.

What all is compatible with the coffee makers in the room?

i don´t know any of the coffe-makers in the resort (CSR). here in germany, we only know SENSEO-PADS. can i use such kind of pads in the machine?

I used to bring my own coffee, until the silly pod fad set in. My family would be much happier if I could just make my Puerto Rican and be done with it. If the coffee is not strong, it is not worth the effort.

Even though Starbucks is not at the top of my list, the Via instant is great. I usually go with Italian and heat the water through the pod contraption, using less water to make it stronger. The iced instants suffice, as well.

Count me in as a Via drinker as well. The little "tubes" are small, fit easily in my suitcase, and if I have leftovers, I bring them home. I can't see any advantage of the pods. Via is that good. I heat the water thru the pod contraption, add via, and stir. I pick up a pint or two of milk, pop it in the frig, and I have my coffee with milk each day.

Can you buy coffee creamer in the store at POFQ?

I only use half and half, and do not like the little creamers. Hence, only sugar in my Via.

When I was not so picky, I used to just ask for the little creamers, explaining that I preferred my own coffee. My request was always met with a smile.

I have even been given real half and half from the coffee bar in the Contemporary, again explaining that I preferred my own coffee to theirs.

There is always the CoffeeMate in the packets at the pod machine, too.

Again, makes my family happy when I get my coffee! So, it is a little pixie dust for all involved!!

I'm not sure where you are staying but the machines at Art of Animation look like they would take the Senseo. Here's a review from the Disney Food Blog with photos. Hope this helps.

Yes I believe so. I have heard senseo mentioned here. They are called senseo pods though not pads

Wish I knew about the senseo pods before I went. The coffee in the room was yuck!!! I only had 1 cup there and for the rest I suffered thru. Actually, I had good coffee only once..

My DH is a dark coffee lover (Starbucks dark). We picked up a package of Melita dark roast at Walmart and he's been double-pod brewing (two pods stacked per cup) and has been happy with that this week.

Every time we go I have only ever seen those little coffee machines that come with filters with coffee already in them.
But if they have coffee machines now like the keurig or tassimo, my DH will be super excited.

The coffee pods are round and the coffee maker makes two cups at a time. You put the cup under the brewer and it fills up your cup for you.

The coffee makers now make 2 individual cups, side by side. Or you can make one at a
time. The coffee comes in a little rounded filter, or pod. You can't use K-cups in them.
And I'm not sure there's enough room to stack 2 pods together to make a stronger cup.
They have this style of coffee maker at most of the resorts, like Poly & CSR. Not sure
about DVC...

NEW WDW ROOM COFFEE COMING TO WDW RESORTS: (3/26/2012)

1) Resorts are converting to Cuisinart dual-cup "pod" coffee makers.
. . . the room is stocked with 2-reg & 2-decaf coffee pods and 2-teabags
. . . the coffee is 100% Arabica bean, very tasty
. . . eventually all resorts will have these during 2012
. . . some DVC rooms might remain with "Mr Coffee" style pots
. . . brews one cup at-a-time, or two cups side-by-side simultaneously
. . . brews 8-oz cup of coffee in less than 3 minutes
. . . illuminated power button and shuts off when water reservoir is empty
. . . separate water reservoir for each side
. . . one side can make coffee while other side does plain water for tea
. . . mugs are provided in room, but uses any standard size cup or mug
2) Each Cuisinart pod filter makes one cup of brew.
. . . decaffeinated and decaffeinated coffee pods are provided in each room
. . . maids will give more pods if asked, not just the two pods supplied
. . . teas bags are also in each room
. . . tea bags are Twinings Earl Grey Black and Twinings Green Tea
3) Pods:
. . . these are not k-cup pods/inserts, but are standard coffee "pods"
. . . they look much like tea a bag without a string, except, filled with coffee
. . . only one pod can be inserted at a time into each slide tray
. . . some people report being able to insert two pods for stronger coffee
. . . there are other pods that are available on the open market or Internet


NOTE: All non-DVC resorts are converting to these pod coffee makers.
As an example, Grand Floridian was converted in February, 2012.

NOTE2: We were told that the Cuisanart was selected due to both price and
the "pod" filters. With the pods, guests are less likely to take extra coffee packs
home, since they can't use them in typical home pots like Mr Coffee or Keurig.
This saves a lots of coffee money.
