I just had a thought, despite the sheer childish joy I feel anytime I have the opportunity to travel to Disney World (which I am sure all of you can relate to). There is always something from every trip that stands out in my mind about every trip. I know that his is going to sound stupid but one of my strongest memories of the 1998 DCL trip I took was the quality of the Coffee! It must have been one the best cups I have ever experienced. I am actually looking forward to drinking some (and possibly purchasing) when I cruise again in December. Sorry if this seemed like a stupid post but I felt compelled to compose it as I am drinking a sub par cup of java right now! Until the next time.

I feel that I should warn you DCL now serves Nescafe on board before you get your hopes up for good coffee. I think Palo's may offer a fresh brewed cup, though.

Also on the Magic now if the Cove Cafe which serves specialty coffees for a charge. I am not a coffee drinker...but popped into the Cove to check it out and it is very cozy in there. Wish they served Chai Latte teas...but no...just flavored teas.

I don't understand why they would serve Nescafe. I would expect that a cruise line that takes pride in the high quality of food they serve would serve fresh brewed coffee and tea. Is it just quicker to serve instant?

Wow, that really hurts. I cant believe they are serving Nescafe of all things. Might as well be serving watered down tar. That makes me sad. I will give Palo a try though, hopefully all is not lost. Thanks for the info.:(

I don't drink coffee but DH said it wasn't bad.

Hope you like it.

The Nescafe is free at the coffee station, there is a charge for specialty coffees from Cove Cafe (not more than you would pay at Starbucks) Cove Cafe on the Magic is wonderful. Located right next to the adult pool, DH would bring me a latte while I was sunbathing....... Oh, I wish I was there now!

The coffe I remember drinking was at breakfast in the Parrot Cay restaraunt. Does anyone know if coffe with meals is instant or is it "The Good Stuff". Just curious. And thanks to everyone that already responded to my original post! :D

The caffine dependant folks on this board truly appreciate the confirmation that "the good stuff" is available in the dining room.

If Nescafe was the only option, I for one, would be a very GRUMPY cruiser!!! I NEED good coffee!!!!

We found the coffee on the Magic very good in the dining rooms. I've had some that was better, and a lot there were worse.
I highly doubt it's instant coffee. The coffee at the beverage station IS brewed, not instant. I watched them change the grinds, but we never had any there.

Is the coffee that comes via roomservice in the carafe nescafe instant or is it freshly brewed?

Voodooboy, don't be too disappointed. I remember the coffee at Topsiders being VERY good. I never would've ever thought it was Nescafe.

i can't answer for sure -- but I normally can detect instant b/c i'm not real fond of it

we ordered room service coffee (wonder) 2-3 times and it was good coffee. I had coffee at Tritons and it was good. I remembered reading the coffee was super strong and I didn't notice that either, but I do like alot of java in my cup-o-joe :)

Nescafe is only served at the Beverage Station on Deck 9. ALL of the restaurants serve fresh brewed coffee.

And, although I am far from a "coffee expert", I do drink a lot of coffee and have found the coffee on the Magic to be very good. (Although I have never tasted the Nescafe from the station!)

I guess good coffee, like beauty, is in the eye (or on the tongue) of the beholder. Or something like that!

IMHO the coffee in the dining rooms and at the drink stations is mediocre at best. Its surprising because just about everything else associated with DCL is first class.

When we returned home from our DCL cruise last fall, I could say that although I would still much rather be on the Wonder, at least I was drinking better coffee at home!

I heard that Disney serves Nescafe coffee because they have an exclusive contract with them much like they do with Coca Cola for soft drinks.

I am a Starbucks coffee addict and love my coffee. The coffee station on deck 9 produces a reasonably good cup of coffee. I have enjoyed many a cup while watching the kids in the pool.

I found the lounges, and the new coffee place on deck 9, to make a mediocre latte. Nothing close to Starbucks. I actually prefer the coffee station coffee.

Maybe someday Starbucks will come to DCL but until then ... meet me at the coffee station early each day.
