Code watch February 2017

Okay, stupid question, where do you look to see if the discounts have come out?:grouphug:

I just look in the special offers section on the Disney webpage.

I'd look right here on the disboards - follow all the threads about discounts. I track these closely for many years and I can tell you I've ALWAYS found out first from the boards.

Same here. That's the case with most things Disney-related.

Someone with a Disney Visa please post tomorrow what the deal is! Even though I can't book it I'm excited for those of you that can and to see what it is!!

Subscribing and anxiously waiting for some lovely Disney Visa card holders to post the deals tomorrow morning. (Hint, hint.)
Anxiously waiting for Oct. 3 to get up extra early and (hopefully) get a good deal for POFQ. I'm willing to go to POR if needed for a significant discount, but we love POFQ, mostly for the size (and NOT wanting to be the Alligator Bayou section at POR).

Wondering if it will be a new type of deal this year since SPD has been used the last four years.

Are the crowds for Mardi Gras (feb 28) bad? Still trying to decide between week of feb 11 or week of feb 25. I heard the LA crowds are big in WDW cause they get some time off of. school. Has any one been there during Mardi Gras and noticed any high crowd levels due to it?

It will be better this year because Mardi Gras doesn't fall during "President's Week" when NY and many New England schools have the week off. That is the week before this year.

We live in Louisiana. Many people around the Baton Rouge/Livingston Parish areas won't be going this year due to the serious financial strain from the flooding. We are going Feb. 7-14, but I have had a few friends that have cancelled their "Mardi Gras" Disney trips simply b/c they can't afford it. Only about 25% of flooded homes had flood insurance. :( We were blessed not to have flooded, but it was literally less than an inch from getting into my house.

If you do not see it and have a Disney Visa, call around Disney around 7 am. I've called a few times over the past few days - just in case!

I am seriously just thinking of keeping my 32% discount at the Beach Club and just stay there. This trip will be a very short one, (don't want my child to miss to much school) and I am already familiar some what with the Beach/Yacht Club resort area, so that might be to my advantage there, time wise. Now if they were to offer up a nice 30% off at the AKL, I might just have to switch over. I wish someone would leak out how much the discounts might tend to be.

Does anyone know what the Visa discount has been in the past and which resorts have been included? This is our first trip with it and I'm wondering if I should get up in the morning and call.

Yes, we are big crowds but fun crowds. We don't meet strangers and most of us are LSU Tiger or New Orleans Saints fans so expect to see a sea of purple or black shirts. LOL.

Oh and we are loud especially as we see fellow Tigers or Who Dat fans. Heck my Vacation group is The Who Dat Krewe!

This will be our 4th Mardi Gras at Disney and it is crowded but doable. Work your fastnesses and EMH. We will start arriving the Friday the 24 and atay the first week of March. Even with Mardi Gras, it tends to still be better than President's Week. Hope this helps you to guide your choice.

.

Wow, I never thought about the flood being a player in the Mardi Gras bookings. I am in Ponchatoula and it got about 1/2 mile away from me when it stopped. I was so blessed!

These are for the years I have gone during this time period.

In 2008 it was Water Parks and More, 2011 it was Free Dining, 2014 it was Play Stay and Dine as a kid which meant the dining plan was at kids prices. I believe that was the only year for that and then the PSD Package ended up being more of a percentage (around 15) off of the room, tickets and dining which we used this year.

Blackouts are hard to guess since it depends on which resorts are already close to being fully booked. We are booked at CBR but my TA has a list in an order should CBR be excluded.

Oh and I have to add....I have flood insurance now! It was always thought it would not get this close to us but it did.....worth the $500 a year for piece of mind.

I was there for Mardi Gras in 2013, and I am not from LA. I always struggle with how to say this so as not to offend people from other regions, but YES! The Mardi Gras folks at WDW are great, fun and nice and a pleasure to be around. :joker: I met Tiana and Naveen on Mardi Gras. They had been on the train for the Welcome Show that morning, and she was so excited about "the sea of purple and gold" at the gates.

We truly are a fun group of you know how to take us. Seriously being called sugar or sweetie is not an insult like some may think, it is just he way we speak.

Normally I cringe to hear someone "pretending" to be from the South but Tiana is AMAZING! She even knows facts about Louisiana that most don't and even knew that I lived in the "Northshore". Heck not many can pronounce Ponchatoula much less know what side of Lake Pontchartrain it is on.

If you're interested in Deluxe Resorts your best option is probably going to be the room only discount. It likely will save you more money than the PlayStayDine deal which will likely be just a percentage off the dining plan with room and tickets at full price.
