for one night at Christmastime, 3 kids (ages 15, 13 and 2)... the two older are real waterbugs... the little guy enjoys splashing and maybe a float on a lazy river...

the plan is to fly in mid-day, stay somewhere fun, visit seaworld the next day and head to a friend's house in tampa... then visit busch gardens...

first time not staying onsite at wdw... are these two good choices and which one is the better choice? or is there a best choice i'm not thinking of?

We stayed one night in The Nick Hotel last fall- the kids loved it- the adults... not so much. ;) we just finished 7 nights at Disney and the kids were begging- so we tried, it was so crowded (yes, in October) and they didn't have enough staff (when we checked out the bellman said he was the only one and there were 500+ people checking out that am!) and many of the elevators were broken, so tough luck if you were on an upper floor (which we were). The character breakfast was good though- and the kids loved meeting Dora, SpongeBob, and Patrick.

We have stayed in a CoCoKey in CT for a weekend in August last year and it was great. Can't compare to the one in Orlando- but if I had to choose- I would stay there.

my kids love the nick hotel, and the character breakfast is greatfun, the pools can be a little crowded but the kids dont seem to mind.
Ive never had a problem with lifts, im sure if there was you could just walk along to the next one theres more than one in each block.

Coco Key has set waterpark hours. Does anyone know if the NIck Hotel does too?

JUST returned yesterday...at first, the hotel looks old and scary (like a 70's Days Inn) but the rooms, beds, and linens are nice! Updated and comfortable.

The waterpark was nice, also. The hours kind of stink...11am opening Sat and Sunday was noon...we are early risers, so this really put a cramp on our day!
