Does anyone have any feedback on Coco Key water resort in Waterbury CT? It is fairly new in CT and I cannot find may reviews about it. I was wondering how the hotel and the water park are and if they have enough activities for kids around 7 years old. DGD is a swimmer but she does not like big water slides or huge wave pools. Also if the resort is clean and well staffed. TIA!

The one in Lynnfield Ma was closed down for a while because the water was unclean I do not remember what the bacteria type was but everyone was getting sick. I am guessing that they learned from this experience so hopefully they will be more vigilent at all of them.

Hi!

We went to the one in Danvers MA. It was a lot of fun, and there is plenty of stuff for any age/swimming ability. There were 4 large water slides, but also plenty of interactive play type stuff. Our 10 year old, who is a great swimmer, had lots of fun.

I believe it was the one that had been shut down for a week or so, but it was very clean while we were there. (after the fact) The hotel room was fine, a typical Sheraton room.

They just opened another in Fitchburg MA. I'm sure as the pp mentioned, they have learned from experience!

Just recently attended grandson's birthday party there. Seven years old is pretty much the perfect age for there, I think. Really, most of the water is not very deep. It did seem to be clean, but it was VERY crowded. My daughter had been promised a party room and did not get one---oops, we overbooked was their excuse. Have since learned from others that is a common occurance there. (She did receive compensation, though.)

If you are staying at the hotel, you could probably hit the water park a little earlier/later and it would not be so crowded. I thought the number of lifeguards was more than adequate. They did close down one section while we were there because someone had been sick in the water. The chlorine smell was evident, but not overwhelming, so I'm guessing the water was monitored well.

If you go, there is a Kohl's and a Costco right there should you need to take a break, or the entrance to I-84 is right there--you could go to the mall in town (not great) or the Carousel Museum in Bristol. Hartford and New Haven are fairly close, too. Hartford would be the easier of the two to get to on the highway. HTH.

Forgot to add there is a game room upstairs, too.

we haven't been yet, but I haven't heard anything bad about any of them.

the one in Danvers was shut down because of too much chlorine, people were getting skin irritations, and respiratory irritation.

DD7 just went to a party there today. She loved it. As a pp said, the lifeguards were more than adequate. I had gone to a party on Veteran's Day and they had a guard every four feet. I thought it was very clean also. However, it was/is SO CROWDED - might get hard to keep an eye on your kid at all times, but she's old enough. I believe they've been getting close to capacity on most weekends, so plan well. DH took her today because older DD had a different party to attend. He's not speaking to me right now! :lmao:

They have two major slides where the lines could be long. There's still plenty other things to do. They have a little lazy river for tubes, a smaller kid area with mini slides and bridges, a huge bucket that spills every few minutes, an indoor/outdoor hot tub, some mushroom walk sort of challenge, and a basketball area (that could be a little obnoxious depending on the crowd level there).

Hopefully, you'll hit a quieter time. Have fun and for your sanity...stay out of the arcade!

Any questions, just PM me.

Just a FYI- if you are going during a school vacation (and maybe even on a weekend) CALL BEFORE YOU GO!!! I was going to bring my godson the week between Christmas and New Years and I called just to find out the hours and the representative told me that they were all sold out for the day. Boy was I happy that I called ahead!!

Wow! I was hoping for information and you all came through! Thank you. My DD and her friend want to take the girls there and we were not able to find any information, positive or negative. My DD will definitely call before booking. Thanks again for all of your help.
