..my suggestion of the executives of Home Depot.

That place has without a doubt the worst service of any store I have ever been in. I am sure the executive are so busy patting themselves on the back and passing out stock options that they never go into one of their stores let alone try to use anything they sell, that they don't know that they don't sell the stuff ya need to go with the stuff they sell. Hello! First rule of service is to have the stuff the customer wants to give you money for - that way you can take the customer's money and they will come back with even more money. [Hello! Homer guys! Remember that shampoo ad a few years ago, they'll tell tow friends and they will tell two.... ]

So now to make things even better HD have self check out, which I normally like, but Homer’s moves at the pace of an iceburg. It finally it prints a receipt and I take my stuff right? Nope! The alarms go off and the helper starts chewing me out for taking my bag too soon. So how long do I have to wait after paying and getting a receipt before the stuff is legally mine and I can go? Second Rule: Take the customers money without too much hassle.

I went to get a mower blade. We bought a mulching mower from Homer a while back, nice Honda. I needed a new blade. They still have lots of mulching Hondas for sale but NO blades. (They did have an empty blade box.)

Do they have the right part? No! They have UNIVERSAL blades. These UNIVERSAL blades don't have holes big enough for the Honda bolts and don't spin without hitting the mower (without a little hammering to re-shape things the worked but now that it has been “custom fit” it aint going back. However, the way you feel about Home Depot at this point the hammering counts at therapy.)

Then since they are UNIVERSAL the blade sits is all wrong and you have to put the mower into low rider mode to get a normal cut. But in low rider mode it get stuck on mole hills ‘cause it doesn’t have and ground clearance.

I figure all the happy Home Depot guys figure parts is parts. Heaven knows they don’t dirty their hands trying the UNIVERSAL junk they pawn off.

Well enough of my rant. I’ll get over it and will be the bigger guy about it. – I’ll be happy to give the executives something to put on the fire ant bites after they wash the honey off.

I am thinking….

Zurg, I loved your rant..probably because I hate Home Depot. I always use Lowe's now and really like. For some reason the Lowe's employees don't treat me like the dummy I am when it comes to home projects...they just help me figure out what I need and give me "tips" (ie step by step instructions) to do it right.

I have to differ. We bought an over the stove microwave last spring. Had it installed and everything seemed to work fine except IT DIDN'T HEAT. Called the manufacturer (Daewood) as instructed in the instruction book. They said they would give us $50 towards shipping it back to them for repair. Called HD. Explained that (1) we needed it because we had a lot of company coming and (2) neither DH nor myself was able to uninstall it, let alone pick it up and wrap for shipping. A day later HD sent a man out with a new one, he uninstalled the old one, installed the new one, cleaned up after himself. GREAT SERVICE.

I go to Lowes. The only reason you will see me in HD is to pick up more Mickey head paint samples. :D

I do not like HD either

I frequent the local hardware and luber yards

I hate going to HD. It always seems as if there is only one lane open and I just got behind the guy that is building a new 16 bedroom mansion and is buying all his supplies at once. There is a new Lowes opened here recently so I might start going there to see if it is better. I don't really need to go to HD anymore as I have all the Mickey heads I need :D

We also made the switch to Lowes, after too many bad trips to HD.

I just learned (the hard way, of course) that the brands you buy at Home Depot may not be what you're expecting. After carefully researching faucets, we settled on a nice Moen faucet and picked it up at Home Depot for a great price. Well, a year and a half later it's broken. Seems Moen puts their name on a cheaper faucet that HD sells. Even though it's the Moen name, it's not Moen quality. I've learned my lesson, stick with the more expensive local guys who stand behind their products!
