Coaster for Young Child

We will be at DLR Oct 19-22 and the steam train, Gadget's Coaster and Casey's train are all down. Are there any other tame coasters or any other trains at DLR? My DS4 loves trains and will only go on a roller coaster if it does not go too fast. Suggestions?

If you're going to be in California Adventure as well as Disneyland during your trip, there's Mullholland Madness. It's a rollercoaster, but it's pretty kid-friendly; the coaster cars look like regular cars (there's a police car, a Volkswagen bug, and a 57 Chevy, among others) and it's about the same as Gadget's Go Coaster, speed/tameness-wise. Not sure what the height requirements are, but I see plenty of little kids riding it with their parents.

DS4 is 39" without shoes - that's probably why I had not even considered that one in our plan. Darn, well he'll have enough other rides that are fun and for his age!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is relatively tame and if you tell him that it's just a very fast train ride, he might enjoy it. My younger cousin rode it when he was 3 because he loves "going fast" and he loves trains. There aren't any big drops; mostly curving drops and lots of dark tunnels. However, there are lots of "catch your breath" moments because there are 3 chain lift hills.

I was thinking Big Thunder Mountain and the Matterhorn. They are both pretty mild for little ones. I see little ones on them all the time.

I took my kids on Matterhorn when they were 3 and 5. They liked it other than the 3-year-old getting a little scared by Abominable's red eyes. Big Thunder is also a good choice - let him watch it for a few minutes and decide if he wants to try it. Height requirement is 40" for both; try measuring him with the shoes he will be wearing.

My DD was a good sport and went on several roller coasters when she was 6, but each one only once. Every one terrified her except Big Thunder Mountain. I think since they sit right next to an adult, it's not dark, and they can see the ride the whole time they're in line it helps. She rode that one over and over and it helped her to be willing to try bigger, scarier rides.

I was eight when I first rode Space Mountain, but like the others suggested, BTMRR and the Matterhorn would be fun to do. The DL rides are very tame compared to like Six Flags roller coasters. They're like practice rides.

We are a little bummed to about all those rides being closed - DD is 3 this saturday and 39 1/2 inces tall without shoes - so we are going to do matterhorn and splash mountain. I had to stop talking about the dinosaurs when I saw even the steam trains were going to be closed - seems like an odd time to close those popular rides!
