The most horrible thing I can possibly imagine happened Friday night here at work...a co-worker with me in the ER came inside from smoking a cigarette, sat down, and started clutching her chest complaining of chest pain...we rushed her into the chest pain center, and within 5 minutes she died, we worked on her forever, and never got a rhythm back. The doctor said it was most likely a massive PE (a blood clot in your lungs) because she went so quickly and was so blue. The worst part is that we couldn't stop working. We just had to stay there the rest of the shift looking at her bag and her chair and we're all still walking around like zombies.

Sorry for the rambling, it's my first night back since Dianne passed away and I'm having a hard time, please send some PD my way and some prayers for her family.

Oh man, how awful for you guys. Here's prayers and hugs for you.

I'm shocked they expected you to continue working after such a tragic ordeal.

My prayers go out to your coworkers family, and of course to you all who had to witness that. How sad. Life is way too short. :(

 how sad :( . They should give you all some time off to get over what had happened. PD to you and prayers for her family.

OMG, how sad...

I cannot believe they made you continue working after such a trauma. :(

God bless everyone involved, especially the people who got that horrible call....

That is so awful. How you all manage to keep doing your jobs is amazing.

Prayers for her family and friends.

What a terrible thing to happen, but having to continue working is so wrong..........

I'm so sorry for your loss. When I taught school one of my co workers was shot and killed by her estranged husband and they made us all work the next day. It was the hardest week of my life.

My prayers got out to you and her family.

Sorry about your co-worker. That sounds like a night from hell.

It sucks to have to keep working, but if they didn't keep working, who in the world would take care of the patients? In a hospital, the patients are always there, 24 hrs. a day, and you can't close the floor and tell them to go home.

I didn't realize that the OP worked in a hospital, if that is the case, it makes sense why she had to continue to work. Still, how difficult that must have been. I cannot even imagine. :(

So very sad, Prayer's and Pixie Dust for you, your co-workers and friend. I am so sorry.

OMG! I can't even imagine how hard this is for all of you at the hospital.

So sorry about your friend.

Prayers and pixie dust you and the whole staff.

That would be horrible, I'm so sorry.

How tragic!!!

I had a close friend who died very young and very suddenly from a PE. It really makes you think that you better cherish every minute that we have.

Prayers to Dianne's family and friends.

How difficult this must be for all of you and your co-workers family. Saying a prayer that you all have the strength to continue.:grouphug: :wizard:
